The first four months were pretty fun...
But today:
Now I knew for certain it would eventually die and need to be replaced, but after just 4 #$*&ing months!?!?!

Both of my brothers 360's have fried at one point, meanwhile my roommates PS3 is trucking along...
Wow!, do you have to buy a new one or will those wankers fix it for you?
Hm... crap. I brought mine in September also for NHL 08. I'm doomed too then.
But here is a question. Do you have the system settings set up so that it goes to the dashboard when you turn on the system? I have mine go to the dashboard, and I'll wait a few minutes for it to warm up before playing the game.
When I'm done, I also go back to the dashboard and let it cool down for 5-10 minutes (sometimes 30 minutes if I forget) before turning it off.
I don't have my system in any drawer whatever. It's on the floor about 5 inches from the walls. That's about it. I got those tips from my friend, which worked for 1 year for him before it died on him anyway.

You're welcome.

Sorry man. I've had mine for well over a year and no problems. I even got the red rings once because I stupidly closed the door to the cabinet where my xbox was, but I let it sit for 30 minutes and it came back fine. That was about 4 months ago...
The Original Pancake Hater
Yeah, I have it load straight to the dashboard, never leave a disc in it, good ventilation, etc, etc... no reason whatsoever that it should already have failed. From what I've read it's pretty rare for it to happen so quickly, so you should be okay for a while. Just make sure it dies within 3 years of your purchase date![]()
The same happened to me at about the same time...
How do you have it load to Dashboard. I just left the system settings the same and the game loads first when a disc is put in
So... the new 360s have a cooler running CPU. This is supposed to help with heat, but from what I've heard, the GPU is still a big problem. I've been tempted by the 360 quite a few times, and dropping the price down to $279 for the Arcade pack is even more tempting... forget about when Burnout Paradise or GTA get here... I'll snap for sure. Thing is... I mean the thing is... ****... 4 months and that unit bit it? :( I know it's covered, but what a hassle.
