Frankly, if you have a ps3, there's no need for an xbox in my mind. For me I have an xbox, don't see the need for ps3.
ESPECIALLY if Mass Effect isn't exclusive.

It isn't our job to sell you on an xbox.
Facts are facts. The 360 has better games and a better online experience. If that isn't enough for you, don't get it...
I have both and use my xbox for games and my ps3 for movies.
Better games, that's debatable. The age of exclusivity for game makers I see coming to an end soon so that makes my choice of having both systems a bit harder to justify.
Halo doesn't interest me.
Gears of War a little bit.
Forza a little bit.
I want the Fable series but the pay-to-play online stuff isn't enough of a reason for me to get it.
There are only a few games I care to play online anyways and most of my friends IRL have PS3's. If they aren't online I don't really play those games online alone except for NHL.
If online play was free I'd get one tomorrow no big deal...that's probably the biggest thing holding me back.
You can go online and kill Rinkrat. Now go buy one.
Yeah. Between the new online pass thing and the player boosts...pretty soon we will start having to pay for roster updates and AHL teams.
Anyway, even though I think the PSN works fine...I'd recommend getting X-Box Live. There are pros and cons, the pros being more players and more games to go online with. The biggest con is the cheaters. It seems like all the big name games have a ridiculous amount of glitchers. In Modern Warfare 2, there are videos all over Youtube of people doing some ridiculous glitches, and personally I have never seen any of that happen on PS3. Same with the NHL games, people finding ways to boost their players (like the 99 glitch a couple years ago,) which I never saw happen on PS3...although the +5 glitch works on PS3. All I'm saying is if you're getting a 360, you might as well get XBL. As stated before, offline games are pretty boring for the most part. Games these days don't have great re-play value (imo.) Online is where it's at.
I don't know, most of the games I buy are ones that have good/extensive offline modes.
That's why I asked if the XBox had games that I can't get on the PS3 that were worth getting that follow that criteria.
Of the games that I have worth mentioning,
Fallout 3 GOTY, no online
Borderlands GOTY has enough going on where online isn't needed.
MGS4, Online not even tried.
Racing games (Grid, Dirt 2, NFS:Shift, F1 2010) career modes are extensive enough that I have yet to want to go online.
Assassin's Creed 2, no online...probably get AC3 but not because of the new online MP component.
Infamous, no online
GTAIV, never tried online
JRPG's (Star Ocean: The Last Hope, FF XIII) no online...
Games I play/played online which I rather play with friends than random strangers.
Resistance 2, online was so-so, I mostly played the campaign.
COD: MW & MW2, I only play with my friends, rarely do I jump on MP by myself.
Red Dead Redemption, Online Co-op was fun with a friend, rest of the online stuff was meh.
Kane & Lynch: Dog Days
NHL series
