In light of the Card Game thread, I feel that there ought to be one dedicated to board games.
There are some great new games out there other than the traditional "Monopoly," "Life," or "Clue."
One of my recent favorites is:
TICKET TO RIDE
What's so fun about building train tracks?! EVERYTHING! You get to make one move per turn, whether to draw more cards or build train tracks, and you better plan strategically! Make the longest continuous railroad or sabotage someone else's bid!
I've played both the European and American version. While the American version is great for starters to learn, once I've played the European one, I just can't go back!
There's also:
PANDEMIC
Pandemic (board game) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
What makes this board game different is that everyone playing is actually working together against the board. You're a group of humanitarians attempting to prevent outbreaks of diseases, finding cures, and ultimately, save the human kind.
For all you BATTLESTAR GALACTICA fans:
Yes, it's true.
