Not as much as you'd expect. A lot of the plot revolves around the deaths of the two soldiers (Allen and Garnett) in the first game that up until now was a major mystery. You just get a little background about this when you start.
Earned in Blood was a retelling of the first game's events based upon the point-of-view of Red Hartsock, so there isn't much added story-wise between the first two.
Some of the achievements are just silly.
Play the game everyday for 100 days.
I think it is just cumulative, not in a row.
One of them is to play the game on September 17th to honor the anniversary of Operation Market-Garden. Well...since the game was delayed, you have to wait a year to do that now.
I'm not an achievement whore, so I kind of find it funny.
