We are all on PVE servers.:(

Are you all okay with their decision to only allow us 6 character slots on launch? Seems a lot of folks are not happy with this and are cancelling pre-orders.

I guess they will charge people to get the extra 2 character slots, probably sometime after launch.

I have found it costs me a lot less heartbreak, and money to wait until the bugs are ironed out.

So, my choice would be to go PC all the way. Let the company iron out the issues with PS3 first, why does it have to be at YOUR expense?
If you need evidence feel free to reference the pages and pages of heartbreak on the PS3 tech support forum.

Anyway if you get a PS3 controller for your PC, or a 360 controller (which works GREAT, I am using it) for your PC, I don't really see a difference anyway. My HD-TV with Tru-motion is hooked up to my PC anyway so it's the same as the console would be with the bigger screen and the controller.

lol I have the complete opposite rule. I'm the first to get that geeky gadget or try the newest disappointment (i.e. APB) but after your review I'm going to continue to beta the heck out of the PS3 and preorder the PC version and get the lifetime subscription.

The standard seems to be 8 per server, so 6 is not that bad. I'm not an alt type person...so no big deal to me for the most part.

Make sure to check with the PS3 testers because I know nothing about that platform, just what I have read.

As for APB I betatested that and on the forums we told them not to charge for that game, but they didn't listen. They could have done it right the first time, but as other companies have failed to do, they failed to listen to their testers.

It's not really how many I plan to create but certain players take issue with it.

Now there are 6 power sets, 6 mentors, and a bunch of skills and iconic powers that might inspire some to want to create alternate characters. Then if they want to have a hero with each mentor, and then of course a villain with each mentor you can see those slots will go fast.

There are power sets being held back from launch that will be added later.

Certain players, powergamers included, will want extra slots to try out the new powersets without deleting their old characters. For example, my friend has been playing superhero games and reading comics his whole life. He already knows what characters he wants to make and he specifically wants one with Green Lantern's powerset, this will not be in at launch. He has more than 6 characters envisioned already, and will have different characters for different groups he plays with.

His work group, which only games once a week let's say, will be lower level, so he will keep a 1st-10th level available to play with them. He will have at least one solo hero and a solo villain, as well as another character he will use to play when I am able. That's four characters right there, and he wants to try out the different powersets and mentors as well. You can see how quickly his slots will be used up, before his Green Lantern set is even available.

Also, when people get used to playing with 8 character slots (kind of the industry norm) and then play in beta for 3 months with 8 slots, and have two slots removed at launch, they are not able to bring their beta favorites, or all of them, to the game they paid for. They then will be charged $15 a month on top of the game cost, and knowing SOE you will see additional character slots will be available, but at a further cost!

A lot of these folks are on a tight budget and feel this is just wrong to do to customers. Some of them have played other MMO's for years and have always had 8 character slots, even in beta for this game.

My primary concern is that I am a member of certain clans and work groups who play at different times and levels (like my friend above will be hunting with him as well) and will need characters for each of those. I don't know if I will need more than 6 at this point, so it's not a game breaker for me, but I can see where others would take issue.

Regardless I wanted my friends at LGK to know this going in. I didn't want fellow Kings fans who got 8 slots in beta and had problems with less than 8 slots or being charged for more later to be shocked.

It's important for some people paying $50+ for a game in this economy, PLUS a monthly sub fee of $15 and then charged on top of that for other stuff they thought they were getting anyway to know this ahead of time.

    Kings fans especially....but that's how I roll....

I've actually been beta testing the PS3 version and fell in love with the game. It's still pretty buggy but I've seen improvements from 1.02 to 1.03 I think the problems I'm seeing has to do more with the servers than the beta. My only main issue with the PS3 version is the dreaded "Wait while loading details" error when I enter a room. It's seems tof happen more often when there's a lot of players.
