    Default DC Universe Online

Ok so I need all the tech geeks and game freaks to help me decide if I should add another MMO to my list of things that I will be doing (including cheetos and grape soda) while I wait for the world to end. Has anyone played the beta and does anyone have anything to say about this game? It looks like it might be able to stick around for a long time and there's a $200 lifetime subscription.

    PS3 or PC?

I was beta testing the PS3 version last night and the game play is pretty smooth. It still has some bugs and glitches but then again you can't expect perfection in a beta. I wish they still had an open beta for the PC version so I can decide if the lifetime subscription is worth it.

There were a batch of keys on gamesradar.com but they ran out very quickly. The release date has been announced as Jan 11, 2011 so hopefully they will let more keys go to another site so more people can try it out.

The PC version is good, graphics and quests penned by DC artists and writers from the comics. Am using the 360 controller for PC and it's much better for me than the keyboard. Some people said that control pads are not as good for PVP. The PVP servers are full of people attacking lower levels, PVP on the PVE servers doesn't have much good going for it either from what I am hearing.

That's fine with me, the PVE is fun, and some of the voiceovers are amazing.

I hope we get more Kings fans playing and that we can band together on launch if anyone decides to get the game.

So how are the glitches and bugs on the PC version? Does it get to the point where you have to force close the game and restart like the PS3 version?

I am on Win7 64-bit if that helps, have only had 2 crashes in my two weeks in beta where I had to force restart.

However, I have had to clear the cache numerous times when it shows the world as being down even though it isn't, had to re-open mail and style tabs to get items to show, and been stuck under the plant life/sidewalk where I had to warp to rally point one time. I have reported all these beta issues and hope that we see more positives before launch. Mail is still wonky, but the style tab and world down issues have been helped by the latest PC patch. (knocks wood)

PC people I know in beta have not made me aware of crashes on their systems but the world down, clear cache seems to be something we have been dealing with until the latest patch.

I recently updated my drivers (haven't played since then), so keep your fingers crossed, glad I don't have a PS3, lots of frustrated players have voiced their concerns.

Sorry for not answering this before, but a general rule I live by when it comes to tech is that ANY time you have a new option available (like a new OS, or a new driver, in this case a console for an MMO) I NEVER run out and grab it as soon as it is made available.

I have found it costs me a lot less heartbreak, and money to wait until the bugs are ironed out.

So, my choice would be to go PC all the way. Let the company iron out the issues with PS3 first, why does it have to be at YOUR expense?
If you need evidence feel free to reference the pages and pages of heartbreak on the PS3 tech support forum.

Anyway if you get a PS3 controller for your PC, or a 360 controller (which works GREAT, I am using it) for your PC, I don't really see a difference anyway. My HD-TV with Tru-motion is hooked up to my PC anyway so it's the same as the console would be with the bigger screen and the controller.

I'm in the beta on the PC and I have not had one crash or major issue at all. Windows 7 64-bit as well. Only "issue" are the mobs being stuck and my chars frozen in a pose but that is about it.

But the important question for me is, what server are you on?

I'm on the pvp server, and I just patched right now. Both servers are down atm.
