Demos/360 NHL 2K9 and Star Wars

Alright, so I just downloaded the 2K9 demo for the hell of it just to see what it's like. This game is horrible. It's too much like an arcade. The sounds are fake as hell and it's just not fun overall.

Their marketing plan is to make it seem like it's simple controls, fun hard checks... and that's it.

Their only new feature seems to be "playoff beards" and a "zamboni ride". That's it... really?

These battles between the two games used to be exciting. But EA won by a long shot in 08 and it looks like 2ksports have given up completely.

NHL 09 can't come soon enough.

i felt the same way about 2k9 at first, but then i started noticing how your players position themselves offensively and defensively. i am definately going to be taking a closer look at the game when its released. i think out of the box its going to be lame, but maybe with a little (or a lot) customization and this could be an ok game. the player models are a little mario kart tho.

The player models absolutely suck. However I am not buying a Hockey game for the player models or the graphics.

It's the core gameplay that will make it a purchase/rental.

The defensive and offensive AI is so much better than last year, guys setting up at the points for one-timers, intercepting my passes, sliding in and getting hurt blocking my shots, and it's playing much better positional hockey.

It's also playing with an "edge", if I take runs at the AI, the AI comes right back after me. Hockey games should have that edge and not just be flat and unemotional. If you sit there with the puck the AI comes after you.
Once I found the controls from last year the game got more likeable, but it took a while.

Also the statisticians did a decent job with player stats, won't see Brashear outshooting Briere, or Koivu beating up every tough guy in the league with a 99 toughness.

Considering it was built from the ground up (in 10 months), it's not as bad as some people were saying it was.

Force Unleashed is as amazing as I thought it would be, the three physics engines really combine to make everything feel as if it would really act that way, cannot wait for this one.
