At least it was worth the wait.
Screw the reviews, I'm still getting this when it hits $10 on amazon!
So far, I have to say it is a retro flashback of 'meh'.
The worst retro part is the load times. Horrible in 2011 and I installed it to disk to see if it helps tonight. I have seen the load screen 'Duke can bench press 600 lbs' around 20 times. Having to "press A to start" after each loading? Why? When you die, it takes the same amount of time to reload. Ugh.
As we already know, the graphics are dated. Music is pretty much non-existant, or maybe that's just me tuning it out?
The lack of a map is utterly bizarre. You may do something and a door pops open, but you may not even see it.
You get to drive RC cars now. I've also used Turrets 3 times in the first 3 levels (one boss).
Right now, I'd say the 5.5 review is pretty close. This should've been released 10 years ago or just shelved. I will try to finish this on the weekend and then flip it back in for $40.

I got this for free and I want my money back.
If it's any consolation, it seems to get better with level design anyway. The Duke Dome and Duke Burger levels are not bad. Still trying to finish this asap.
So even after installing to the HD, it takes 34 seconds to load. Whether you died or are loading a new level. Ugh.

Finished this on Friday night, and apparently I didn't finish it fast enough, as it is only now worth $20 trade-in. :(
The last couple of levels after the Burger one are quite a lot better than the beginning levels. Instead of a 5.5, I may rate it a 7.
