Default Earthworm Jim...what's your fave old school game????

So I found out that my favorite game from back in the day was available as a download from the PS3 store. I bought it and played the other day and I was in heaven. As fun as I remembered...great music/sound fx and simple gameplay. Download the demo and see what I mean. Anyway, what are some of your old time faves and are they currently available? Recommend some good ones here guys...

I just started playing the original final fantasy again on wii's virtual console. goddam Astos and his stupid Rub spell!
Other ones I've gone back to
    Mike tysons punchout
    Sword of Vermillion
    Original Zelda

I like all these games because of various reasons, but being familiar with them I can pretty much jump in and play them at any point for 5 minutes or 2 hours and be satisfied (well if I had 2 hours).

Super Mario Bros 3 was the best platformer EVER made!

My wife and I play on my Ubuntu desktop using a NES emulator and a ROM, with a bluetooth sixaxis controller. Pure 8 bit heaven.

Shining Force I & II (genesis)
    NHL 95 (Genesis)
    Xenogears (Genesis)

The Shining Force series is still my favorite games of all time. I still play them every so often.

Probably had the greatest effect on me and remains my favorite to this day. Hard to pick up and play again because of the overall melancholy tone though.

Growing up, we used to play a lot of Contra, TMNT, and Battletoads in the NES days, and NHLPA 93 in the Sega days was how I got my love for hockey.

I like chess with a real physical board and actual chessmen.

Real world Go is fun too.

Cribbage is a fun card game when played against another in-the-flesh person with playing cards and a cribbage board.
