I am sitting at my computer knowing that it's downloaded and ready to go at launch. . .and I can't stand it.

Walked in to my game stop today with 30 cases for them, handed them my receipt for pre order and credit card for the rest of the payment, went on about doing the delivery and was handed a copy of skyrim on my way out. The 60 people waiting in line for it........not so happy.

As for the game, i haven't tried it yet. My son is at my parents for the weekend so i have all day tomorrow.

It's pretty freaking awesome. Almost overwhelmingly so, there is so much to do. I honestly have no big complaints yet, just a little adjusting to slightly new systems.

But yeah, this game is awesome.

Played around 5 hours so far. Never played any of the previous games so I might've been a bit lost at the beginning (they tell you to choose who to follow but I just kept following the guy in red).

I finished 1 dungeon and 2-3 cities/settlements and finally fought my first, uh, big fight with something big.

I, too, haven't played any of the others. Should I get Elder Scrolls IV before jumping into 5?

Doing fine so far without having played any of the others. Story may have more depth if you played the others but there are so many books to read around towns that I think those may cover some of the previous game history.

Definitely do not need to have played the others. I only have played Oblivion (which is an amazing game as well) and the Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas.
The story is completely separate from the other Elder Scrolls except for a few allusions here and there.

The best part about these games is not even doing the main quests...which are great, I just love that you CAN get lost for hours at a time and still be entertained.

No kidding, i played today for 3 hours and didn't even do any quests. I just explored and did some dungeons/castles. I'm up to level 9, have 3 different shouts and haven't completed many quests. I'm gonna dedicate my next sitting to getting some of them out of the way.

Headed-out of Whiterun and saw 2 giants. Not good at Level 5! Low-earth-orbit achieved. LOL
