Awesome game, but buggy as hell on the pc.
My girl played it last night for 3 hours just quicksaving, game crashed, lost all those saves.

Other than that it's an awesome game.

Absolute bizarro thing happened earlier. Some guy ran up to me and gave me a sword. Then another guy ran-up asking for his sword. Then after I gave it back, a wolf killed him. So I took the sword back after looting his stuff. Not sure if this is a real quest or just an event of some type, but the original guy is still creeping around the wilderness. LOL

The PC version is pretty buggy it seems. The game will crash to the desktop with no errors or nothing. I guess I should be happy that it does not lock my system up haha. But I have learned that F4 is your friend with Skyrim!!! I have to use it a lot. There is a patch that will be released in the near future. I'm hoping it will fix a lot of these major bugs with the game

Wow, I'm incredibly terrible at this game so far. Any tips for a beginner? It seems I'm very good at dying and dying

While this won't help you get better, it will relieve a LOT of the frustrations you'll experience when you die.

    TIP #1: Save a lot.

That's it. Honestly that helped me enjoy it so much more. There was nothing worse than doing a bunch of crap and then falling to my death from some mountain and losing everything that I had accomplished up to that point.

Ok so I finished the first dungeon and slayed the first dragon. My character is getting more experience and I'm dying less, but I'm still a bit underwhelmed in the whole story department. I have very little idea of what's going on. As far as I can tell, there's a war going on though I don't know whose side I'm on, or even who the good guys are, dragon's were gone for a very long time but have returned and that's never a good thing. But that's about it. I figure I'll keep on truckin to the next mission and see if the blanks start to get filled in.

Takes a bit to get a hold of the lore, though it is a little easier if you've played some of the previous games....

There are two main political factions in Skyrim: The Imperials and the Stormcloaks (largely the native Nords).

There are a number of deities that are revered by all races, chiefly the "Nine Divines". Well, one of these Divines was a former human Nord named Talos that was welcomed into the Divinity for his great deeds, etc. etc.

Basically some powerful Elven group called the Aldmeri Dominion marched right up to Imperial City and kicked a bunch of ass, and demanded that Talos be....err, undeified....because they are stuck up elves and hate the thought of a human being a God.

So anyone siding with the Imperials is afraid to worship Talos because it is now heretical, while the Nords love the guy because he was one of them. The Stormcloaks are pretty much pissed off Nords trying to stick it to the Imperials (and Elves) for hating on their boy. At least that's how it sounds to me.

As far as which side you are on goes...well you can choose either side or neither side. As far as what makes sense, if you're a Nord character I would imagine that you'd be more likely to side with the Stormcloaks. If you aren't Nord, well the Imperials almost executed you and the Nords are pretty xenophobic themselves...especially toward Elves and the beast races, so it's more like you're picking your poison.

Gameplay-wise, I haven't tried either one but I imagine they both play out somewhat similarly.

It is possible to turn down your difficulty level in the menu.
