I've heard it's a bit of a departure from previous games in the series, more linear in nature and more focused on action. Still, I'll likely be taking the plunge and giving up most of my free time to play it. That is, once I finish FFVII, which I'm playing for the 3rd time (on PSP this time).
I have read some ****ty reviews on it and it doesn't sound to good to me. No towns, you can only control one person in battle if you die game over, you are at full hp after every fight, no my mp instead you get cost points. To me it sounds bad I hope I am wrong tho.
Can't wait!

There are a bunch more reviews out there but the majority seem to rank this game with an 8.0 or higher.
Reviews don't mean too much to me if I know I already want the game anyway. One huge thing about FFXIII is the fact that people say it's too "linear". That's what a JRPG usually is. Especially with all the cutscenes and whatnot, you're suppose to go where the game tells you to go. I'm not sure what are people expecting.
This game took many years to wait. I believe it's the first Final Fantasy game for the PS3/360 as well, so we've all been waiting a long time. Maybe people had way too high of an expectation. Either way, this game is suppose to be different.
I read all of that stuff too. It's definitely an adjustment, but I'm sure it'll be alright. I have read that the battle system seems extremely easy at the beginning of the game, but when you get to the halfway point, it gets complicated. So complicated that if you don't mess around with the settings/commands, you're not going to stand a chance at winning.Quote:

So......what do you people think of it?
I hear no towns.....and it's more of an action RPG. I hope Cactaur is in the game.
Really loving the game so far. I'm about 3-4 hours in and it has totally exceeded my expectations. Then again, I didn't have many to begin with other than the fact that it was a JRPG that I've been craving for a long time.
Story confused the hell out of me in the beginning since I didn't know what the hell they were talking about... but eventually you'll understand.
Battle system was quite confusing and took me awhile to understand it. But I'm glad there is a bunch of tutorials and it didn't come at you all at once because otherwise it would scare people off.
The characters are all extremely likeable. I don't understand Sazh with the stupid chocobo in his hair... lol
No complaints at all. Only being able to control the party leader does not bother me at all. It does feel a little weird to be restored full HP after every battle, but I don't mind it.
