Loving this game a lot. The feel of the game reminds me a bit of FFX, which is awesome since I thought it was the best of the series. The story is totally sucking me in.

currently on chap 4. dunno how long I've played. Please, no spoilers here people.

I have no life, ergo I'm already at the final boss

Going to grind a bit before taking the boss on though.

LOVE this game. The story is great, the graphics are great, the battle system is both fun and challenging. Looking forward to nerding out and doing all of the sidequests and everything when I beat it!

    Just beat it!

Great game. Glad you are all enjoying it as well, the hate it is getting is completely unwarranted, IMO.

Wow. Out of curiosity, how many hours did it take you in all?

Haha, I'm embarrassed to look. Keep in mind I am unemployed and an insomniac .

Let's see, looks like my save before the boss came at 51:15:16.

A little over 5 hours a day/night... yeah, that sounds about right

Still tons of side-questing and stat-maxing to do, too!

Ah, nice. I was a little worried when I finished Disc 1 in only 11.5 hours, and that includes reading every little datalog entry, exploring the environment, etc.

So I take it discs 2 and 3 are much longer than 1?

    50+ hours sounds good.

No idea what the disc cutoffs are like, I have the PS3 version which was only one disc. I was feeling like I was mowing through it pretty quickly early too, so maybe we were at similar points.

Not sure how accurate 50 hours is as a mark, I'm sure others have done it much faster. I play at a leisurely pace. The game does get more difficult/expansive, though.

I was feeling pretty weak during Chapter 11, so I took the time to grind and max out my crystarium. That's probably the biggest difference; early on, you pretty much max out your grid just playing through the level. Later you will have to make a conscious effort to do so, if you so choose.

I think it also comes down to battle efficiency. Random battles I flew through, but I took my sweet time with some of the big bosses down the stretch.

    Enjoy!

Just picked it up and only able to play for a bit. The graphics are pretty amazing. The battles go pretty quickly. The camera is going to take some getting used to.

It took me much longer to find an answer for this than it should have, so I thought I'd share it with anyone interested here.

After you cast Libra, you can go into the Enemy Intel screen (RB or R1 during battle) to find out that enemy's weaknesses. The problem is, there's no legend to describe what the icons mean anywhere. Maybe it's common knowledge and has been used in past Final Fantasy games, I don't know, but I finally came across an accurate legend online:

Red (flame) - enemy is weak against fire
Light Blue (ice) - enemy is weak against ice
Yellow (lightning) - enemy is weak against lightning
Blue (water) - enemy is weak against water
Green (leaf) - enemy is weak against aero
Brown (earth) - enemy is weak against earth
White Sword - enemy is weak against physical attacks
Black Staff - enemy is weak against magical attacks

Really comes in handy for certain bosses who can change their elemental weaknesses during battle.
