Tell him about the Twinkie...
Cats and dogs living together!
Single player is a lot of fun, although the game takes place on levels, the levels are a good size and you have artifacts you can pick up to add to your firehouse collection. Some of the controls can be re-mapped which makes it nice for those who don't like the original control scheme.
You also scan ghosts, non-corporeal entities and add those entries to your Tobin's Spirit guide, which allows you to know weaknesses at a glance. Ghosts are specific to the levels, so you won't find a book golem in the museum level or a confederate soldier Type 3 roaming vapor in the library stacks.
The biggest complaint I have found is that you get your upgrades, all of them, unlocked around the mid-point of the game.
I know I am weird, but I actually prefer that to having the most powerful weapons unlocked in the final stage, and then you only get to use them on one stage. I think Ghostbusters did the right thing. It allows players to use those powerful upgrades through several missions, not just one.
It was written by the same folks who brought us the original movie and number 2. It keeps one-liners, (Bill Murray delivers a standout performance), characters, and settings and mixes them all together to deliver a better game than I expected.
The graphics look nice on the 360 version, and all the recurring characters do a nice job of reprising their roles.
Although Sigourney Weaver doesn't make an appearance, Allysa Milano takes over as Venckman's love interest and is a welcome addition.
I haven't completed single-player yet, but there seem to be about 7 large single-player missions, from the settings we all know and love from Ghostbusters.
Definitely a rental, see if you can get a place that will let you try before you buy (I.E. Gamecrazy) or a friend who owns or rented the title, so you can see what the game has to offer first.
It will be interesting to see if there are DLC additions for us to enjoy further down the line.
