Grand Theft Auto Online Details Revealed - IGN

"We've always wanted to create a world with the complexity of a single-player Grand Theft Auto game with the addition of real players. We wanted a world where people could spend years without getting bored of playing the same content over and over.

"I think we've managed to achieve something very close to our dream."
The following is why I was happy to hear that GTA Online comes out weeks after the game is released and why all of you should try to finish the single player story first.

For starters, over 500 missions will be available in GTA Online when it launches, some of which can be completed solo while others will require you to team up. All of them take place after the conclusion of the single-player game, meaning some familiar faces will make an appearance. If you make friends with the right people you'll also be granted bonuses (for example, biker gangs may offer mission support or a hacker can hide you on the radar in multiplayer matches).
This is gonna be good. I think anything less than a perfect 10 rating from all the websites will be a huge disappointment.

While it seems like most of you are allergic to the "like" button, I just want to personally say thanks for looking anyway.

The map looks kind of small imo. Going to have to wait and see how big it really is.
So far i only see 3 airstrips, so that's good.
Hoping to get the game on friday, but i am not sure if i want to risk it.
Shaddy this link below features a 2nd picture of the map when you scroll down, it shows the San Andreas map (which people thought was huge) superimposed on the new map. It's hilarious to see just how large this map is compared to the other games LOL.

The map is 49 square miles, which is HUGE. It also includes verticality though which is not a part of this number. It has helipads on rooftops as an example and the entire ocean floor is explorable.

It is larger than GTA III, GTA IV and Red Dead Redemption combined.

Driving those long highways between the north and south is going to be hell.

Traveling long distances is the one thing I hated about Red Dead Redemption. Horseback travel is pretty cool and novel at first but once you're 25% into the game it's monotonous. Same with driving all over Liberty City in GTA IV. Fun at first, annoying when you're on one side of the map and your mission is on the other side.

I think you will be okay. Just head to the airport or your nearest helipad as soon as you can. You might be too enthralled with the views from the air to be worried about that kind of thing.

Yeah I saw another one where they actually located several spots from the trailers and man it really is a huge map. The first one looked small cause of the highways and stuff.

Looks like Jets and Fast cars are a necessity, imagine if they had actually implemented that rumour putting gas in the cars, it would har made it much longer to get around.

Would be ok, we have contacts in our cell phone, you can call them to deliver you your cars, your choppers or your jets, and you can even call a taxi!

Now, as to where they would land your jet, haha that's another question entirely LOL.

Which basically eliminates the functionality of around 50% of the map. Check out all the green area between the densely populated areas. What's the point of them creating this gigantic world if there's nothing to do in huge portion of it?

There is though. Check out the map with the flags. Each of those flags is an activity that takes you through, you guessed it, the green areas. Also in the green areas are where you will do activities like hunting, and yes, I want large open areas of the map for hunting please! In addition, in those unpopulated areas are random events, maybe a car broken down on the side of the road, do you help or pass it by? Anyway if you played Red Dead Redemption the random events will be similar to that.

There's 100 hours of gameplay in the solo portion, and 700 missions in the online, which will be added to all the time. I doubt you will have nothing to do for extended periods.

Knowing me, I would most likely just land my jets on the street or roofs, if they don't explode lol

As long as they give us access to a jet pack, I'll be just fine.
