Hackers running wild... just had one send me $101,000,000 randomly. Kinda makes the Rockstar $500,000 stimulus pack a bit less of a punch, haha.

It really is amazing how many little mistakes they made in programming the game to allow people to do those things to cheat. I got up to $575,000 by just playing the game and with the bonus $500,000 today I was able to procure my Entity. I put on bulletproof tires since those were so handy on my first car, and I am deciding whether to buy the 60% armor for now and the upgrading to 100% when I get to level 100 or just waiting. I also got my platinum medal for 25 bounty kills, putting me at 20 medals. Still filling up the ones for crates, car deliveries, and armored cars. Once I get to 25 and get the medal I probably won't bother with any of those unless they are very close, except maybe bounties, which are always fun.
I went after a guy tonight who I tracked down to the beach where he hid behind the little lighthouse. I parked my car and creeped around the building and saw a regular looking SUV. I figured it was not a personal vehicle and assumed the guy was hiding behind it, so I just threw a grenade and let the car blow him up.
Even more fun than chasing bounties is defending yourself from people coming after your bounty. I had a guy following me so I parked the car I borrowed in the middle of the alley area by the strip club entrance and attached a sticky bomb to my car. When the guy came in from one alley, I edged down another just far enough that I could still see him by turning the camera as far as I could. When he came around after me, I waited until he got to my car and blew it up.
My new favorite thing to do when I have a bounty on me is to use a helicopter to fly to the top of the skyscraper where the last few floors are under construction and the only way to get there is to fly or climb up the longest crane and then parachute down. It is hilarious to gun down people climbing up the crane because it takes so long for them just to get to the part where they climb past me and are completely defenseless on a ladder. Another guy landed a helicopter on the top of the area and I waited for him to come down the ramps and then he died.
USC - Since I am level 54, I can send you a mugger if you still need that Trophy. I apparently suck at deathmatches because I keep drawing my sniper rifle when I mean to take out my carbon rifle. I also do not know how to do rolls. Somehow a guy dodged my automatic shotgun by rolling even though it was still pointed right where he was rolling.
At one point in free roam I dropped a grenade at my own feet when I thought I was taking out my carbon rifle to shoot at a guy driving by. I blew myself up. I also suck at flying the Buzzard trying to kill people, although it seems to have gone from super bouncy to just really bouncy now that my flying stat went to 40.

JGON85 - PS3
Would be sweet to make an LGK crew with the the Kings baseball diamond logo., I saw a crew with a picture of Tony Montana as their crew emblem

Jose, I will have to remember to add you next time I am on. I am in USCKingsFan's crew.
My single favorite thing playing online happened the other night. After I killed some guy who went after my bounty about six times from my favorite spot at the top of the under construction skyscraper, my bounty ran out and I got the money, so he started doing the gang attack down below. I got in the helicopter he brought on his last ill-fated visit to my spot and flew it down, blowing up some gang members for him. I then left the helicopter in the street and attached a sticky bomb to it. I was about to shut the game off but hoped he would come after me again. I stole a car and drove it half a block away, then waited. He didn't come after me at first but all of a sudden I got another bounty from stealing the car. The other guy comes running out of the construction site toward me. I drive a little further away and watch him head down the street. Out loud (just to myself, I did not have my headset on), I'm saying "get in the chopper, get in the chopper, get in the chopper" as he runs near where the helicopter is. And he sees the helicopter and gets in. I cheer and wait as he takes off and then starts in my direction, at which point I detonate the sticky bomb. I was laughing so hard.
I had another guy who kept coming after me today (without me having a bounty) and he was on a headset. Every time I killed him he was throwing such a hissy and telling his friends how much he wanted to kill me in such creative ways that were not part of the game. And he just kept coming and kept getting killed. The best was when he was waiting for me with his sniper rifle pointed at the corner I was behind, so I finally used my phone to bank the money I took from an armored car earlier, and he saw the flag icon so he put down the rifle and moved in. I finished my deposit just in time to lean out with my automatic shotgun. He called mercenaries on me and left.
I did another one of the competitive missions, which are really lame because they take forever and if you are on the losing side, you get nothing. This one was four separate teams (all just one person each), so three people got nothing and the winner (me) didn't even get much. The mission involved five Patriots being driven around and you have to hijack them and take them to certain dropoff area - whoever returns the most wins. I took an early lead by letting the other three fight over the nearest one as I got the second one, and by taking my other Patriots offroad through the sandy hills at full speed when the other players tried to chase me to kill me and steal the cars. 3-1-1-0.
Just got my grenade gun. How low does a helicopter need to be for me to hit it?

I just started to play online and I suck and I am pretty confused with system. For the first 10 mins of playing notices kept popping up explaining how to use the system of menus and jobs, etc... My head started to spin. At one point I noticed someone on a motorcycle was chasing me down for no reason. When he got close I stopped short and he rear ended me and I sent him flying. He jumped back on his motorcycle chased me down and killed me.
I could not locate the ATMs or is there an easier way to bank my money? I looked on the phone and I could not figure it out. Also how do I get into the passive mode, I looked in the menus but I could not find it.

On your phone, go to finances, and then "Maze Bank". From here you can deposit money, which you should get in the habit of doing often.

You'll get the hang of the jobs system pretty quickly. To start, just focus on doing missions as they come in. Races are also fun. Deathmatches you will probably want to wait on, since you don't have any weapons yet.
Are you on PS3 or XBOX?

Thanks for the heads up on the passive. I feel like there would be a bunch of players out there killing you just because. I was in the lead in one of the races and then someone knocked me off of the road and onto the freeway and by the time I was able to respawn it was to late.
In the offline game when driving I would just floor it without regard for damaging my vehicle or other players, is this a bad tactic for online.
In the offline I snagged the jet figther from the base and parked it in my hanger. I like to fire it up and blow up the police. i usually end up crashing it because the ground comes up pretty fast.

Yeah, there are plenty of people that come after you "just because". The game actually encourages this, giving different awards and unlocks for killing other players in "any game mode", including freemode. Of course, that's giving most trolls too much credit.

You will definitely have to adjust your playing style online. Like I was saying above, just stick with missions and races you enjoy. Survivals are great too, as if you clear them you get around 3400 RP and $20,000. Fun too. Once you've made enough money to buy an apartment, you will spawn there every time you go online, giving you the chance to get a lay of the land before venturing out.

Yeah, you are very vulnerable in the free play area at the beginning when you don't have any decent hardware. Early on you can gain the levels and money you will need quickly by playing the missions and doing races. You can come in last in a race and you will still get money and XP as long as you finish (a timer will count down once the middle of the pack crosses the finish line). You can die on a mission but as long as the survivors finish it (and you are willing to watch), you will earn (join missions started by random people in free play - they may be high level missions and thus will pay like a high level missions even if you die (if you are the 4th person in a 2-4 player mission, they'll be fine even if you only have a pistol)). A lot of the 1-2 player missions are not too hard solo as long as you treat cover like your friend.
A good thing to do early on is to rob each of the stores, which you get a trophy for along with lots of cash. Buy a mask at the mask shop near the beach and wear it when you do robberies so the clerks don't remember you, and never put your gun down until you are outside (walk backwards to the door) as some clerks will shoot you. Losing wanted stars is a little more annoying online, but driving into an alley or up a hill usually works. If you take a mask off (or put one on) while you are not under immediate sight from the law (map is not shaded red), you lose a star (works once per wanted level - switch it back and get the star back), which is really helpful going from three to two so no helicopters are after you.
You get the Mini SMG (Uzi) at level 5, which is the minimum you need to defend yourself against other players. I only kill people who kill me, have a bounty, or are killing others back and forth, but some jackasses go after everybody and if someone closes in on you, odds are they are going to attack. The other night someone stopped next to me and honked for me to get in their car and we fled a helicopter through the city, so anything can happen. If you are going to shoot it out, you are better off on foot than in a car, because you can target people and use any weapon. Don't blow up anyone's nice car as you have to pay the insurance on a personal vehicle you destroy unless the person has a bounty on them.
You'll get a better SMG at level 11, sniper rifle (so much fun) at level 21, assault rifle at level 24, and the mighty automatic shotgun at level 37. Choose your weapon based on range and be wary of anyone a block away on the map pointed at you and not moving - that is sniper position. I spend my money on weapons first, buying everything once it was available and building ammo up to always having 1,000 (and later 2,000) rounds per weapon. I did not buy any weapon mods until lately (currently getting the large clips). After that, I saved up for a cheap six-car apartment and then put bulletproof tires on my car (maybe should have done that sooner - driving when you lose your tires is a huge pain). Then I saved up for my beautiful Entity. My thoughts is it is better to wait to build up $800,000 for the best car, but the Carbonizzair (however it is spelled) for $200,000 is a really good car for less money.
The Stunt Jumps and various games are probably good early when the low XP point payout means more. I also like to clear gang hideouts (red circles on the map - shoot one of the gang members inside to start) (I don't think they appear at level 1 though), but at level 61 the XP is paltry to me. Make sure to shoot the large green rectangular crates (usually there are three in the area) and take the XP and weapons inside, during and after the fight.
