I loved the 2nd one, it's the game that introduced me to cars (I was only 9 or 10 at the time.) I wasn't a fan of #3 or #4, but I still wanna get this.

    I'm kind of hating it.

    • The Elise and the S2000 spin out at the slightest steering adjustment.
    • The menus take FOREVER to load
    • It takes 1 million clicks to get anywhere in the menus
    • Many of the cars are up res-d from GT4
    • The classic AI always wins a collision situation

The game reeks of over polish.

    I really liked GT4 too.

I got my copy the day it came out, and have been racing ever since. Level 17 on A-spec and level 8 on B-spec (with 2 drivers) so far. Tried the advanced karting challenge this morning, and it was hard but I'm sure I'll get it with a little more practice. I agree that some of the cars of way too hard to control, like the Lamborghini on the World Tour challenge in Tuscany during night. I could hardly get on the throttle at all or else I'd spin out asap. The game does seem to have too much polish and thousands of those little details simply don't matter to a guy like me, or 99% of the population as it seems. But hey, I'm just glad it's finally out.

    I really liked GT4 too.
The driving physics have gotten a lot better over the series. The lack of real Damage still sucks. Just because you have the HP, doesn't mean you can use all of it. Steering and throttle/brake control are much bigger factors in this game now.
It takes a lot better control to drive well, so much so that I'm seriously thinking to finally get around to buying a driving wheel and stand/mount.

For the long load times did you do the full install at the beginning? That helps immensely from what I've read of people not doing it.
I did it and the load times are pretty quick.

GUI for menus could be better but not a hassle to me. It's easier to get around than the map in GT4.

No big deal for reusing car models, although it would be nice to have 1000 premium cars, it would have taken this game forever to come out if they had tried it.

I don't know what you mean for the last point except for on the license tests where the AI can bump you from behind if you cut them off and you'll still get DQ'd. In game it's not a factor.

I love this series and this is def the best one in all aspects. Could it be better? Sure, but I'd say that about EVERY game that's out. In terms of current PS3 racing games, I put it above my previous favorite which was NFS: Shift.

If you don't have a wheel like me, I recommend remapping the brake and gas to the L2/R2 Analog Triggers for a little finer control.

I passed over the 8gb install in the beginning...is there anyway to go back and do it?

maybe if you delete the game file, not your saved game file. that might kick it to reinstall mode and give you the option to do the large install.
the game save file can't be copied to do a clean install.

After installing all the updates, including the 8gb thing that makes load times shorter, I shut off my PS3. It took 2 hours to update this game, haven't even played it yet and don't really feel like it anymore, lol.
