I totally agree here. I got Halo 3 when it came out because it was extremely popular. It was definitely fun back then for sure. But after having played MW2, Halo 3 feels absolutely ridiculous and it made me question myself and probably others what was so great about this game.

I thought Halo 3 would be it. I could be wrong here but I am going to guess that Bungie wants some more profit since MW2 and Battlefield Bad Company is so successful.

If Halo ODST and Reach is anything like Halo 3, then for me personally, I won't feel like I'm missing out on anything.

The thing with Halo is that it's fun. Sure, something goofy happens in every game, and you die a lot until you get better, but you just respawn and go again. Eventually, everyone can find something they're good at (driving, flying, running the flag, lasering, etc.).

Going online (or into system link matches) with teams of 4/8/12/16 in 1 room with 1-4 TVs makes it better than any other FPS out there. Still. We will buy 3-4 copies of a game like Halo (or GRAW2 back in the day), but we will no longer be buying 3-4 copies of solo-online COD-type games. The fact that companies like Activision or EA have not bothered to handle multiple players syslink/online on one screen means they deserve to lose $$$.

I was never really a fan of Halo (probably because I suck at it). It just seemed too ridiculous. I did, however, enjoy driving the warthog around in the first halo(PC). That was always fun for me. But I did not do well on the multiplayer. I would die every 5 seconds or so.

Been too busy to jump on the beta yet. But from what I have read, and the gameplays I have watched, it is a lot different than Halo 3 (thank God). It is getting some pretty high praise so far.

Oh really? That sounds like good news to me. I'd look at videos, but I don't want to get tempted into buying it.. hehe

I think it's a lot like Halo 3. The controls are different, there's no dual wielding, and of course there are new weapons and modes. But it still feels like Halo to me.

Watti and TooCool, I used to be the same way. After I got into Modern Warfare 1, I went from a Halo fanatic to hating the game. I couldn't re-adjust to the slower pace, lack of perk system, the vehicular combat, and all that.

But somewhere along the line, I changed my mind. I guess it was when ODST ame out. It reminded me of how much I enjoyed the series. However, I have still seriously neglected my multiplayer disc (all 24 Halo 3 multiplayer maps come free with ODST).

I'm not saying I like Call of Duty or Halo better than the other. But this fall, I am 10 times more interested in Reach than I am in COD: Black Ops. The game is being made by Treyarch, after all.

They made World at War, and after being addicted to COD4, I couldn't stand to play WaW after the first 2 months. Somehow, Treyarch used Infinity Ward's COD4 engine and copied the whole setup/perk system, yet they made the game, well, not fun.

I'll still give it a shot. I have always been a big fan of the COD games' campaigns, and I love the multiplayer for both Modern Warfare games. I just hope Black Ops has an online beta like WaW did.

Back to the Reach beta- people have been complaining about not being able to use armor abilities while carrying the flag (you drop it). But that would really screw up the game balance.

If the flag carrier had a jetpack, he could fly right up to the capture point and would have a relatively easy path there. Active camo would cause the carrier to not be seen- at least not well- giving the capturing team an advantage. And scout would create problems, too. Most people (smartly) use guard when defending a flag, but if the opposition had scout, the guy who took the flag could use the sprint and no defenders who chose guard could catch up to him.

Overall, I'm really digging the game. I do, however, realize that Halo's not for everyone.

Had a chance to play the Invasion map this weekend. 3 teams of 2 per side -- so 6 players are Humans and 6 are Elites. Finally has some vehicles! Warthog, Ghost, Banshee spawn at certain points.

People are paired-up, but I have no idea why. The spawning got annoying when your paired partner spawns on you, you always have to 'get away from the action'. Elites must capture the objectives and eventually remove a power core to win. Humans must defend all the points along the way and the Elites running out of time gives them a win. Loadout drops change for the humans after every Elite object capture. Some new ones I tried were Grenadier, Shotgunner, Sniper, etc.

So overall, it's not bad, but I had bad lag all weekend (screen would be black for 20-30 seconds at the start of every match and then I figured-out that hitting the silver XBOX button got it to join faster every time).

Haven't experienced any lag in the 70 or so games that I have played. Game is definitely better than H3 and relies on player skill more than game enhanced mechanics (auto-aim, aim assist).

Invasion is retarded until they get the balancing of it better. Spartans spawn with DMR's (new battle rifle) while Elites spawn with needlers and plasma rifles.

The power ups like cloak, sprint, jetpacks, etc. are all really cool though and add another element to a players skill.

Logged in today and Invasion was fixed. Invasion Slayer is awesome! They also did a few more tweaks according to the first load-up screen.

Yeah, they added a Spartans vs. Elites Slayer, I think (non-Invasion), fixed how teammates would grab and drop flags in Stockpile to steal your points, removed a Spartan loadout for Invasion, and, uh.... some other stuff.
