From what I have been told and read, yes. Thats why MS is not charging for the RROD repairs.

An update on my repair.
Aug 11th(sat) - Xbox gets RROD.
Contact MS Customer service for repairs.
Aug 13th(mon) - MS sends return box to me.
Aug 16th(thurs) - I receive box and send back immediately.
Aug 17th(fri) - My xbox is on its way to TX after leaving
Memphis.
So hopefully they get it on Monday and ship me a fixed one sometime next week (I highly doubt it will be that quick). I have been told 2-4 weeks repair time, but people I have been talking to say its less than 2 weeks 95% of the time.
I've had mine for about a year and like OrangePuck and ASUcruz, haven't had any issues.
My brother recently turned his in and it only took 3 weeks total from getting the RROD to getting a new (or refurbished) system.
The question is, how long do you guys play for? 2-3 hours a day? More?
I'm lucky to get 2-3 hours a week in on it.
xbox 360 rocks my socks
What about the new Xbox 360 Elite. Any word if those get the red ring of death as well? I need to pick up an Xbox 360 soon because of the new NHL game.
I've got the Elite and so far no problems whatsoever. Looking back, when I first purchased the original Xbox 360 I was having disc read errors as early as one week into my ownership. Hopefully this Elite can last a bit longer than it's cheaper, uglier little brother.
I've had to send in 2 of them so far. Still waiting.......zzzzzzzzz.......want to play bioshock and the new tiger woods. Not to mention halo 3 is coming out!
Most likely you will get back a different refurbished unit. At least that's what I heard and that's what they did with me.
You're right - it won't be that quick. It was more like a month for me - 4 days getting there; 12 working days there; 4 days coming back - and then it wasn't even the same unit.
