Probably should be over in the Games forum, but...
Be patient, try everything out to see what you like. Figure out if you want to be a "good guy" (Order) or a "bad guy" (Destruction) and go from there. The classes roughly fall into 4 archtypes: melee damage dealer, tank (heavily armored, defensive-oriented melee), ranged damage dealers and support/healers. If you have any specific questions about the classes, the world, or anything, let me know.
It's important to know that this game largely revolves around team-based player versus player battles, so get a feel for playing the pvp scenarios early, and don't fret if you're not doing so well at first. This game was designed to have an easier learning curve than many past MMO's, but it can still be tough to get into. Best I can tell you with an MMO is just have fun, don't take it too seriously, find a good guild to join up with, and you'll be fine.
My friends and I have been playing on the Order side of the Ostermark server since launch, we have a guild called Bugman's Bitter Brigade. If Order is your chosen side, please feel welcome to tag along with us, if you land on our server.
After Dark Age of Camelot (2 years/40 pounds) and World Of Warcraft (2.5 years and another 30 pounds), I think I'm done with MMORPGs.
Anything worth shooting is worth shooting twice. Bullets are cheap. Life is priceless.
I was about there as well. Will never ever return to the grind that is WoW, but was a huge DAOC fan and I like the Warhammer IP, so this one was kind of a no-brainer to me. I think it kind of captures the essence of DAOC while having the accessibility and casual flavor that WoW and City of Heroes brought to MMOs. It's been fun so far, but I can definitely relate...I DO wish someone would come out with a great Cyberpunk/Sci-Fi MMO though.
Yeeeeeeeeeeah. Cyberpunk (hell, even steampunk) MMO would be kinda awesome.
World Of Ghost In The Shell!

Defrag thrice daily.
I got bored of Warhammer in like 3 weeks.
Same thing with Age of Conan.
I played WoW for almost 2 years, but I ain't going back to that.
I'm pretty much done with MMOs as well.
Anyone try EverCrack II? Just downloaded a free trial. Doesn't seem all that bad.
too many acronyms for me
I have no idea (nor want to) know what you guys are talking about.
I remember playing Warhammer 40K when I was a kid. I'm glad I'm not caught up in all of the games.
