Likes/Dislikes in NHL 10
As in pretty much any NHL game, there are a lot of things that bug me...but I wanna post some things that really bug me about this game in no order (keep in mind I am playing on Superstar.)
Loose Pucks- over 75% of the time, the cpu will get the loose pucks. When your AI get them, you end up getting checked and knocked on your ass or poke checked because you are stunned you actually got the puck.
Rebounds- Goes with loose pucks, except the percentage isn't as high. I don't have much of a problem defensively, but offensively they get the puck like nothing or once again steal it from my player like nothing. Or my players go to shoot the rebound and they miss the puck like a bunch of retards. Also, a lot of the time I'll press up to shoot and my player waits until another player is in his way and decides that it's a good time to shoot.
Hitting- Hitting was pretty unrealistic and stupid in 09, but it was one of the best parts of the game. I don't have a problem with not being able to knock out Zdeno Chara with Oscar Moller, but what pisses me of is in the game I just played, I was charging full speed at Kovalchuk with Scuderi and I just bump him. I don't care who the player was, he should've been knocked on his ass!
Faceoffs- I can win faceoffs no problem on any difficulty but Superstar and online against cpu. I can win a fair amount against most human players online, but Superstar and cpu online seem impossible to win against. I have Stoll...one of the best faceoff men in the game taking faceoffs and losing 90% of them. How the hell is that even possible? I try timing it different times, yet I still lose them.
Shot Amounts- Some games there will be shot amounts like 16-12 final. Come on now, even in the most defensive real NHL games they get more. I don't want to put more time in games, because they are long enough now with this after the whistle thing. Which bring me to another point, why can't we change the amount of time that is on there? And in the EASHL, why is the after the whistle crap even on there? Hardly anyone fights then, mostly everyone just runs around hitting each other which makes it take even longer. Put it back to how it was in NHL 09 for the EASHL.
Speed Boost- I can only use it once I hit the red line now? WTF is that ****, if I'm on a breakaway, I want to push the puck up before some ******* steals it! I guess it's better online that way, but still annoying.
Goalie Stats- Goes with the shot total thing. Thanks to shot totals being lower, Quick's GAA as well as Sv% ect. has become pretty embarassing. And the scores aren't even that high, so wtf EA!
Game Freezing- Never had this problem with a game before and I hear it's somewhat common in sports games (and I've owned every NHL game since 03,) but this one freezes. Not during gameplay, but in Be a GM when I'm doing something on it. Annoying!
Now that I vented a little bit (even though I know there's a lot more I'm forgetting), here are things I love about the game, and I'm sure they outweigh the cons:
Be a GM Features- I LOVE THIS MODE. Trade block for every team, trade rumors, scouting is better, power rankings (which don't make sense anyway lol,) the draft, blackberries that notify you about things rather than email...etc. This mode is by far the best new mode they put in the game.
Be a Pro Features- Well, mainly the fact that you can get drafted by any random team lol.
Injuries- In GM mode, Williams got a fractured jaw from fighting a few games back. I didn't notice in the first couple games, but the 3rd game I played after that...he scored and he was wearing a full-face visor. That is so awesome!
Well I guess that wasn't much for the things I like, but all the stuff in Be a GM is what makes this game great. Feel free to post more if you guys have any.

Biggest negative was left off, IMO - power ups and boosters that you can purchase. So my $60 wasn't enough to purchase the entire game?

i hate how one player is "out for 2-3 weeks" but still plays the following game....

You already sort of pointed this out but the one that drives me crazy is in goalie mode. I seriously face an average of 11 shots per game so for the most part I'm sitting there bored cuz nothing is happening. Then when they finally do shoot the puck, it's a perfect one-timer into the top corner so my save% drops drastically.

I try to keep it realistic somewhat. When Williams got injured, it was for "a week or so" I think, so I let him play (because that dude tears this game up!)

Likes - Everything except:
a) The boosting system being eligible for EASHL play. Terrible, terrible idea.
b) People quitting at the very end of the game. WTF? Just finish the game, you're getting the loss anyway.
c) The guy I played last night (Online Vs Mode) who figured out how to pin my player to the boards a second before I even got to the puck. 100% of the time. Not once called for interference/holding/douchebaggery. He handed me my first loss.
d) The ridiculous faces we have to choose from for our created players. Did they actually downgrade this?
Otherwise, I'm happy with it.

Ok so it's not just me. I swear I actually looked like myself last year but not at all this year.

Get used to it. It's becoming pretty widely used. Some games even charge for content that is already on the game and cannot be unlocked. The data is on the disc, but you have to pay extra for it. Swindlers.
