Anyone playing the game yet? If so, how is it and does it improve the format that has been used over the years? The videos do show a very cool looking game! The backgrounds are awesome indeed

I like it. Not as crazy as say MvC3 and once you figure out the opponents gimmick, you can go after them easier. It's a lot like how I remember it long ago. It can get hard and you will want to throw the controller but well worth the money.
I put it in the Ps3 to download the exclusive codes but you know how that turned out...anyway, I was playing in the tutorial mode and it was very informative for a button masher like myself. The look is pretty awesome. Gotta spend more time with it.
Maybe this'll help
Mortal Kombat (Video Game) | Horror Movie, DVD, & Book Reviews, News, Interviews at Dread Central
There's so much to do and see here it's literally staggering. This could very well be the best Mortal Kombat to date, and as a fan that is not something I say lightly. The most badass fighting game franchise is back, and its teeth are sharper than ever.
Thanks for the info and the link guys. I plan on buying this game in the near future.

BD Horror Video Game News - Mortal Kombat Review: A Bloodbath to Remember
BD Horror Video Game News - Top 10 Mortal Kombat FatalitiesIn the end, this is like a long-awaited love letter to its fans. It's beautiful, gorier than ever, has more content than I've ever seen in a fighting game and it offers hundreds of hours worth of enjoyment. There's little I could say about the game that's negative but if I wanted to nitpick I could say it took too damn long for the series to finally make its glorious return to what made Mortal Kombat great in the first place: visceral combat, a kickass story and buckets of blood.
The Final Word: This is a game that caters heavily to its fans but offers enough enjoyment for newcomers to the series; it's everything a Mortal Kombat game should be and more.

Everyone is unique in his or her own way, that's what makes it special about Mortal Kombat. they all kick and punch different ways, combo's are all different, x-rays are cool although i'd just rather use the enhanced attacks (other than Jax since his xray gives the most damage) i've played through the story 5 times, gone through 70 or so from the challenge tower and have one the arcade ladder with 11 characters. it's a pretty fun game although i'm having a tough time pulling off over 6 hit combos lol The most i've gotten was 13 hits with xray wtih Ermac and 10 hits (xray+bicycle kick) with lui kang.
I apparently suck at MK now since I had to turn the story mode difficulty all the way down to Beginner after getting up to Scorpion's chapter on Medium. I like the alternating between characters but remembering all those moves is a nightmare. Even on this easiest setting, I had trouble with some of the 2-1 tags. I am using Raiden now and I don't know his moves well so I need to practice more.
The 300 level tower sounds like 'Marquis de Sade' as some of the ones even before 50 were utterly incomprehensible (battling upside-down? WTF!). I am around 60 now. Does doing all that just for a flesh pit costume make it worse? LOL
As for the 'bad' things about it: 1) The price is $10 higher in Canada @ $69.99 everywhere. 2) It needs an online pass to play, which is the ultimate F-U to gamers. AKA another $10 cash grab. 3) The XBOX controller is quite poor for fighting games. 4) The "instruction book" is only a cover. Cheap!
If you guys want this game, it's on sale at Amazon for 40 bucks.
