And here, an article about the new controller, including a mock-up design
Dissecting the Project Cafe Controller Rumors - Gear News at IGN
Very interesting, as it appears they're ditching the IR sensors of the Wiimote and reverting to a traditional two-handed, dual thumbstick setup, albeit with the massive touch display in the middle. Puzzling that they would focus this entire (previous) generation about mobility, opening up the gaming sphere, disconnecting from the specialization of controllers, and are now eschewing all of those gains to directly compete with the two others (something they decided was unnecessary and ultimately futile in the past). It's honestly boggling that they're so radically changing their business design and approach.
So the system will have less graphic power than first reported? Why am I not surprised that Nintendo cuts GPU power again lol

BTW, release for Project Cafe will most definitely be 2012 (also in the article)
Nintendo unveils Wii U with tablet-sized touch-screen controller - latimes.comQuote:
Nintendo revealed its new home console on Tuesday, dubbed the Wii U -- a new high-definition video game system that will use a new touch-screen controller to play games both on and off the TV screen.
The Wii U's white, plastic, controller is about the size of some tablet computers and features a 6.2-inch touch screen, as well as a standard array of gaming controller buttons. But a tablet the Wii U controller is not.
Images displayed on the Wii U's controller are all produced by the Wii U console itself and the screen is just that -- another screen.
hmm dunno how thrilled i am.
Why wouldn't they design the controller to be used away from the CPU as well? 2 for 1 if the controller could be a portable, less capable version of the bigger whole.
Think I'm gonna stick with my NES.
I saw this in person today at E3. i did not play it myself but watched other people play it. It looks like people are swinging an iPad around while playing games. very odd to see i have to say.
