How were the graphics tho? On the same level of the PS3/Xbox or better?

All the trailers show HQ graphics. 1080p was quoted by Reggie.

So after watching the full presentaion on G4 last night, they said multiple times the controller is not a standalone game playing device. Why would they cannibalize their DS/3DS? I think they may do stuff with interacting with the 3DS like in Smash Brothers...

But what I think they are doing is streaming directly to the controller when you swipe it off the TV, so no graphics chip/processing power is needed at all in the controller. The console still does it all. Makes the controller cheaper too. Those things are probably still going to be $100...

I believe Nintendo said it would be more powerful than the PS3.

The concept seems interesting and might have worked... 10 years ago. They promoted the Wii U as a thing you can play on your controller (the huge tablet) if someone wants to watch television. So instead of turning off the TV, you can still play it on your controller. You do this by transferring the data from the console to your controller (and vice versa) which is pretty neat. The only problem is that you have to stick near the console in order to play it... and in my opinion, takes away the point of the device unless you REALLY want to play it.

For me personally, if someone is going to be watching TV in the same room I'm playing... I wouldn't be able to fully enjoy my sounds and it would therefore make my gaming less satisfying.

Aside from that, the thing seems like a really cool concept. Especially if you're playing the new Wii U games. I guess it's almost like a Nintendo DS but bigger. It seems like you can look at the TV screen or your controller when playing. But for newer games on the Wii U, I'm sure the screen on your controller will act more like a menu system and then you need to look at the TV screen to play the game.

Overall, it still feels very gimmicky to me. But then again, that Wii gimmick suckered a lot of people (including me) to buying it.

I would say that Nintendo easily won this E3. Microsoft is trying too hard to catch up to Nintendo with the Kinect crap and all Sony did was introduce the Vita (handheld device) but I think the 3DS will be pretty damn successful.

Does anyone know if Nintendo is going to get rid of the Friend Code crap? I think that's the one thing that's holding them back from being completely superior, and that's the friend code stuff.

While it seems like most of you are allergic to the "like" button, I just want to personally say thanks for looking anyway.

Wii is too kiddie for me. Or maybe(likely) I am just too much of a gamer/nerd.

I'm sorry, but the Kinect is vastly superior to the Wii in terms of controller-less control. I've found the sensitivity on the Kinect to be pretty spot on. M-soft screwed up by not lining up a bunch of cutting edge games to come out after launch. Voice commands are handy too.

All the gameplay graphics of non-nintendo games shown were from PC, PS3 and Xbox.

No need to be sorry. I'm just not a fan of the Wii, Kinect, or PlayStation move for that matter.

I was just judging the E3 conferences in terms of what they brought to the table.

Nintendo presented a new console on top of more 3DS stuff. Sony had a new handheld. Microsoft just had more Kinect games.

You're right about the cutting edge games. There needs to be a good balance in between for your casual and hardcore gamers. I personally don't think there's anything fun about petting virtual animals or dancing on Dance Central. Sure these games appeal to a wider audience and they probably make a ton of money, which is why they're so focused on things like that.

It does seem like Nintendo is finally seeing the light (so to speak). The Wii U looks like it's going to have a good balance of games for hardcore and casual people.

At e3, the games that they were demoing for the Wii U were basically demos/mock ups that the nintendo team created specifically for e3. i would say that the graphics looked sharper and definitely in HD, but you weren't seeing any real graphics intense games like you would see on the ps3/360 either. So will definitely be a wait and see for how the games will look on this new console.
