NHL2K 08 v.s. NHL 08
Not exactly sure of the exact names of these games but I need to decide on one for our 12 yr old for XMAS. He has epilepsy and because of this and some other things he never got into sports, BUT as bad as the Kings are this year he has become a huge fan. So his only PS3 game he wants for xmas falls into the hands of you experts. Which would a good choice? I would say sacraficing some things for ease of use would be acceptable, it does help if one is easier to play than the other. Mind you that the only things he knows of hockey is that he hates the Ducks, Modry and like me thinks Fox's blabbering is way too annoying at times... Thanks for any and all advice on choosing a game.....

I prefer NHL 08, although I guess the frame rate isn't as good on the PS3 as it is on 360. The control scheme is a little more complicated, but way better once you get the hang of it.
EA's product sucked for a very long time, but they're finally getting it right.

nhl 08 for ps3 is still great to play even with the frame rate issue. it's not really an issue really unless you have both the 360 and the ps3. i'd go with 08 over 2k8!

nhl08 controls are awesome. The 2k series has really taken a step back last few years.

08 is the best hockey video game ever.
After a bit of getting used to the controls it will come second nature.

I have been a long-time 2K supporter. NHL's inability to get away from the overly arcade style of hockey, where shot totals are consistently in the 50's and 60's, defense is non-existent, body checks are incredible and players who wouldn't know their positions if they tripped over them really turned me off from the series in favor of 2K's, for a time, more "realistic" game.
However, NHL08 is an outstanding product. I wholeheartedly recommend it to you. I have high hopes that EA will continue to tweak the Dynasty mode, but the gameplay is second to none, IMO.
