Enjoying the soundtrack too, Quiet Riot's "Come on Feel the Noise" is a nice one to hear after a sweet goal.
    Sounds realistic...

For the first time in 2K hockey history the critics aren't happy.

Gamespot's 161 user reviews have given it a 6.0 average rating. I find it hard to believe the game is THAT bad but people obviously aren't happy. I'd love to finally get a shot at the demo...

I dont know why its getting low ratings - I have had no problems with it. I actually dont see much difference between NHL2k8 and NHL08 after playing both (mind you for about 4 games on 2K8 and 8 games on the NHL08 demo). From what I can tell, 2K8 is definitely an upgrade over 2K7. The graphics are "next gen console" quality and the play is smooth.

I will, however, give props to NHL08 - it looks like they have finally brought a quality product to the market and are getting much deserved hype. I don't think the negative reviews on 2K8 are merited, so far i think they have a great products out there.

I think the arguments for best game will come down to the other details like online play, who has the best franchise mode, etc.

Maybe i haven't played enough to see the negatives yet but so far i am left with a good impression and I am happy to have the problem of TWO quality hockey games to choose from. Now about charging $60/game - tsk tsk.
