Thread: NHL 11 News

I downloaded the demo before I went to work. Have not had a chance to play it yet. Not very concerned about player faces since it's the demo, but hopefully the checking is toned down for the real game and they amped it up for the demo. Plus you can adjust the sliders. Looking forward to playing when I get home.

I didn't get the same cards as you TC, I got Hickey, Backstrom, Zetterberg, Getzlaf, Keith, Chara and Filppula....damn

Looks like they fixed the interference NOT

Checking at default wasn't as bad as we saw in the preview clips. I was only able to knock down a few smaller guys with the bigger players on the Hawks. For some reason, Hossa was the captain though.

But, that video was bad.

hmmm, I've never been able to do that in EASHL, even with the puck at the person's feet and they hadn't touched it yet.

I have Chara on my team....he has had his stick broken 3 or 4 times so far.

Well, I downloaded the demo this morning and messed around a little before heading into work. I'll go home for lunch and mess around a little more, but here are my initial thoughts:

1) Faceoff System (important to me): In practice mode it is impossible to lose a faceoff, but in game mode it is harder than NHL 10. There are a lot of different options (forehand, backhand, hit the stick, tie up the other center). I am maybe winning 50% of my draws, but not very cleanly. Most of my wins come from tying up the other center and my wings come in and recover the puck. I also have not figured out how to (or if you can in the demo) change the FO configuration. That being said, I have not seen any bad ones set by AI yet.

2) Hitting: The physics engine is definitely in effect and if you even nudge a guy his trajectory is knocked off. If you do get in a good clean solid hit they look a little slow/delayed. Once you play you will know what I mean.

3) Gameplay: Seems very fluid and is very fun (at least so far). I've seen a few broken / loose sticks. I did score off the post on a cross crease, but the goalie almost saved it. Computer AI does board play a lot and is better at intercepting passes.

4) EAUHL: I was thinking we would all get the same players for the demo, but that is not the case. I got Tavares, Sequin, Hickey, Lidstrom, P. Rosa, Straka . . . that is all I can remember right now, but this mode looks like it is going to be addicting as Hell.

More to come this afternoon - and I'm sure we will all be online together at some point today.

I managed to get Hickey, B. Schenn and Bernier. Not bad.
