I like the '11 game...still getting used to some controller functions and have about 4 Be a GM seasons under the belt.
I play offline as well and CPU is redundant at having the puck carrier come out of his zone and circle back about the time he gets to the red line. Then it dumps and chases as well.
Other than that, seems like I keep coming back for more.
A couple of concerns I have for future EA Sports NHL games.....
1) The goalie interference is a good thing BUT how often will it occur?? Does the goalie always lose his lid in the process?? If so..that'll get old real quick!
I'd rather have the CPU offense, or even MINE, when crashing the net, scuffling will happen, not neccessarily blatent hits on the goalie to take him out while he's not looking.
2)In all 4 seasons I have yet to experience a goalie getting injured, or see it happen to CPU goalie for that matter even though CPU will alert on pregame screen that so-and-so is out for 3 weeks and a minor league call up has happened. Injuries are not common for my team and if they do occur it's not a season ending nor long lasting to be crucial.
3)A little bit of blood letting for a 5 minute major major would be cool but then again if EA incorporated it, it'd probably happen way too frequently.
EA is never putting blood in the NHL games for rating purposes. Goalies are alive so they will always be knocked down if hit hard enough. No goalie injuries because EA are lazy and don't want goalies to be out of action.

I can see the ratings argument, but there wouldn't have to be complete gore. It's part of the game. I'm sure they could design SOMETHING that can at least elude to 'blood letting'. Have a player cover his nose for cripes sake after a random high stick, skate to the ref, while his back is towards the gamer, show the ref, ref sends guilty party to sin bin for 5. That's right...EA's lazy.
As far as goalie injuries are concerned...they occur ONLY on pregame screen NOT during game action. I was hoping I'd have a rare occurance for one side or the other but I guess I can sleep now.
Three words for EA Sports . . . 'Ten Minute Misconducts'.
blood? I'd rather have them spend the time fixing other crap, like the soft wrist shot from the blue line that somehow eluded our goalie with .2 seconds left in the period. wtf!

I wish they would fix passing. I'm sick of calling for the puck from the cpu and passing it immediately to no one. I realize that's partly my fault for pressing the button too many times, but if I'm pressing pass before I receive the puck, then why is it passing when I do get it? I know it's for a quick pass, but it's a stupid feature. Also, as nosoup has said many times, the drop pass is very annoying, too. One more thing, I'm sick of the faceoff cheaters who just keep tapping the right analog til they win the faceoff. It's nearly impossible to win a faceoff doing it the way it's normally taken when they do that. Start kicking these people out of the faceoff circle and if their teammate wants to do it, then they should get a penalty...just like in real life.
I am really getting frustrated with NHL 11 lately, not only has our team been playing like crap, but EA's logic is making it worse. The sad part is, we all know EA isn't going to fix any of these problems in NHL 12 and we will all still buy the game anyway.
+1
Maybe more realistic checking, a CPU that doesn't tape to tape to tape to tape to tape to tape to tape across the offensive zone/neutral zone without ever shooting or looking like they want to shoot, and goalies that all slide from post to post like Hasek...THAT might get me back on board the yearly pick-up.
I think the most irritating is the size of the players and the effect it has. I'm not even going to get into the online my player mode, i'm sure everyone is already aware of how superior bigger players are, especially on defense with their body checking and slapshot attributes, i'm talking how EA LITERALLY wants us to fall in love with this crap by how many rookies are 6'6 and taller , most of whom always turn out to be better than any smaller players (especially on defense, as always) in the future. I swear, my NHL team, ALONG with my pipeline was filled with 6'7 defenders and higher in the 20th and final year of my dynasty.
