Thread: NHL 13 Talk

Will be the same damn game 4 years running.

And I will still buy it NHL 13 no matter what! I love playing against my friends all the time. And the hockey league team is awesome as well

It doesn't look like it will be the same thing as the past 4 years. In fact, the trailer said the exact opposite.

I expect this game to be worse than NHL 12. EA always finds a way to fix things that aren't broke. I can't remember if it was NHL 10 or 11, but they introduced a "realistic hitting engine" and it was actually pretty cool, then the next year they introduce "an all new physics engine" which made checking look unrealistic. In NHL 12, you'll be going full speed to hit someone coming down the ice, and somehow their body will fall face first instead of the player falling on his ass. Not a huge deal, but it looks stupid as hell because it doesn't make sense.

Just like I do every year, I'll make a little list of things I want fixed (in no specific order.) Keep in mind I only play EASHL:

Faceoffs- Sick of people cheating on faceoffs, they keep tapping the button to win faceoffs and never get kicked out of the dot. It's a cheap tactic and there needs to be punishment if they are going to do that. Make it just like the real NHL. If you keep moving, you get kicked out of the dot. If your 2nd faceoff man does it, then it's a penalty on your team.

Goaltenders, Fighting, and "Battling"- I'm sick of being sucked into the opposing team's players. I go near the goalie, sometimes I get sucked into him and end up taking a penalty when I'm just trying to get out of the way. Sometimes it happens after the whistle, so I get sucked into a fight I never wanted to do. Then you got battling, which is one of the most annoying things in this game. If you're a forward, the game is basically telling you to never go near the net. The cpu D stands there beating the **** out of you so you can't move for 5 to 10 seconds. It's not a ****ing battle, it's one guy making sure you can't do anything. If it was a real battle, you'd be able to fight for the puck just like the defender is. You get sucked into that constantly too, so there's no way around it.

Game Misconducts- I get that the game is trying to be realistic, but game misconducts in an online game are just ridiculous. There is no reason a player should have to sit for the rest of the game for cheap shotting someone. It's a video game. Give the 5 minute major and let me get out of the box after it's over. I know I'm complaining about realism, but this is a bit too much. It sucks even more when you start the game out evenly matched 2 on 2, 3 on 3, or whatever...then your team is down because you can't play the rest of the game.

The trailer showed briefly that appears to be new skating, but the trailer is deceiving every year, so I doubt it's anything positive.

It looked like it was showing use of the skill stick. The 2 trailers just should innovations EA has used in the past. They haven't showed anything new, yet. They're hyping whatever the new innovation will be by showing the past first.

Are they showing us NHL13 clips? Cause those look like NH12 clips to me.

No. Those are clips from NHL 07 through NHL 11.
