I had the same experiences, with 2K6, but 2K7 has run flawlessly for me since it's release.

What's that? RPG elements?! Yeah, Player Growth is going to be a big part of making your squad into the golden boys of the league each year. Tucked away under the Coaching features, Player Growth gives you the insight to see how you can make a given player better than he was when he started. Give a star more and more ice time, and they'll begin earning more and more experience points. These points then get broken up between the Focus categories of scoring, skating, defense and skills, mental and physical.

yup, franchises were programmed POS.
The gameplay was great though.

After reading reviews and previews I have decided to stay with the title that has delivered year after year for me. Both titles are getting great reviews. If EA ever actually does get their stuff together and fixes the defense AI and goaltending glitches (that they proclaim "fixed" every year), then they will probably get my $60 next year.

So for now, I get to look forward to a deeper franchise mode, improved graphics, and the 2K version of the "skill stick" for this release.

Ultimately, I am looking for the title that gives me the best simulated hockey, not arcade style. I am willing to trade graphics for playability. Reading the reviews, it looks like you probably cant go wrong with either title this year. I hope that is the case.

So anyone ever play online? I only have the free account right now. I didnt buy the online account cause i figured that I'd get my ass royally kicked by the kids and it wouldn't be much fun. Recommendations?

Have you played the NHL 08 demo yet? Before writing it off, I'd recommend at least trying out the 08 demo. It seems like EA has finally delivered what a lot of us have been waiting for...

As far as online, I'm hoping to find some reliable players to match up against once 08 is out... I'm getting tired of people using exploits, dropping games when they're losing, etc. See my sig for my gamertag if anyone wants to play (Xbox360).
