It actually takes a few games into 2k8 to really enjoy it. Goalie animations are a huge step above all other versions, and gameplay as a whole is great. The reviews for the game judge mostly on the controls as the main con on the game, it shouldn't as it just takes time to get used to. If not, just switch it to 2k7 basic controls in the options.

i was ready to trade away 2k8 because i couldn't stand the controlls, but then i tried the tutorials and saw all the neat stuff you can do. Not to mention I copied someone's sliders and adjusted them slightly for my way of playing, and it's absolutely amazing! By far the best hockey game i've played. Im a franchise mode person, and this one is the deepest i've ever seen. Player progression kinda sucks, though...
I've yet to try 08, i'll probably rent it and give it a whirl, but for now, im perfectly happy with 2K8...

Is there a demo for this damn game yet?

Yes, I noticed that the demo was up last night.

Cool, I'll check it out tonight. It's going to be weird going back to 2k's controls after getting so used to 08...
