So I picked this game up from a friend of mine. Never really played any of the earlier versions but wow. There is a lot going on in this game and I have a feeling I will be playing it 3 or four times through. Currently playing a Knight type character and have embarked upon a holy quest to recover ancient relics of a broken order of knighthood. This quest has entailed a pilgrimage to holy sites, encounters with other knights on the trail, and holy visions. I'm impressed with this game.
I realize that this game probably had a thread like... a year ago... but I'm just sayin: Oblivion gets a thumbs up from me. :congrats:
Try like four or five years ago...
It's a fun game though. I wouldn't recommend doing the Knights thing yet. When you get the rewards, they are permanently scaled to your current level, so if you do it early they will be stuck as mediocre. If you wait until you are a higher level, they will be some of the most powerul items in the game. Just a tip.
I tried to play it about 6 months ago, but the graphics at this point are just too unbearable.
I pick it up every now and then and put in a few hours.
I need to go back to that. I was right at the end of the main story and had done a ton of exploring and the guild stuff (need to finish off some guilds, too). I believe I was at 60-70 hours, and there are still a ton of sidequests I haven't gotten to do yet because of my level.
Also, if you don't have the Shivering Isles or Knights of the Nine expansions, do what I did: Go buy the game of the Year edition used from Gamestop. Install the expansions on your hard drive. Return the used game within 7 days for a full refund. That's a much better alternative to paying $30 for the Shivering Isles alone, and I'm not sure how much for KOTN.
I really need to go back to this, especially having the expansions now, and Fallout 3 plus its expansions. They're 2 of the best games of this generation- possibly all time- but they're so time consuming!
