    DX10 in XP?

Was checking out this pre-ordered title and it shows:

All-new Game Engine. With a newly created Windows XP-compatible DX10 graphics engine, players will experience real-time seascapes, dynamic weather and a new advanced landscape and flora system.

That's news to me but terrific for XP gaming!

I'm totally wet for this game. AND I may even be able to run it without an upgrade.

    ... I STILL play Medieval 2. And I've even debated re-installing ROME.

Rome is still played in our house (bro got Medieval 2 for Christmas with expansions), and Shogun is even played here, these games were/are great time sinks.

I have every Total War except the Viking Expansion. I love the series.

Ok... so has anyone bought this game yet? I've seen it on Direct2Drive but am not super keen on spending $70 dollars on it. Any LGK reviews?

Beautiful, beautiful game, in all facets. I say this with the acknowledgement that this is one of my favorite eras of military history, but this is my favorite TW game yet. Performance has been improving steadily with the patches, as well. If anybody's interested in any specific ins and outs, let me know, I'd likely babble too long giving a review.

As go said also, check out the demo, though keep in mind that probably IS still an earlier, un-optimized build, if I recall correctly.

I would also say, unless you're interested in the actual extras from the collector's editions (DVD, the historical extras), the extra units in the $70 version probably are not worth it. Couple of light infantry, a named ship and an arty unit. I've also heard speculation these units MAY be added in at a later time in a patch perhaps, but that's completely unconfirmed.

P.S. Make sure your system can run it, the specs are a little high.

Oh it runs, but a crash in turn 80 on the AI's turn has prevented the game from continuing, 2 patches later and no fix.:(

A full, babble included, review would be quite welcome. I love TW games.
Specs wise I'm pretty sure I can run it. I have the minimum requirements in terms of graphics card(damn I need an upgrade), More than enough ram, but I'm not sure my 2.2 dual core processor matches up with the 2.4 pentium the game requires.
I'll check out the demo and eagerly await your review.

I have played some of the earlier games and loved them. I remember just how excited I was about playing Shogun when I first read about it in a magazine. It seemed like Kurosawa inspired goodness. Hopefully, I'll get a chance to play some of the newer games.

Another reason for me to finally upgrade my computer.

Well, that, and the fact that we might get Starcraft 2 one of these days. At least that's what Blizzard promised.

    Total War Games +Starcraft=Time Leeches
