This thing filled up super fast! :good:
Above, you'll obviously see the tournament tree with our Round 1 match-ups. Go ahead and contact your opponent and get your games scheduled. In the past, I've found it's actually better to try and get all 2 or 3 in at once due to everyone's schedule being different. If you try to do only one game at a time, things can drag on. We're going to try and stick to a pretty rigid schedule with each round being only one week, but the key is communication. As long as you post in this thread that you have something scheduled and you're both in contact, we'll be able to make exceptions, but please try and get everything done within a week. With 16 people, this could turn out to be pretty cool if we see it through.
A little bit about how I set it up:
I first (sort of) randomly divided us into two groups, East and West. I then tried to set the seeds up based on our Xbox Live rankings (Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum - gXboxLive Leaderboard), but somehow I ended up with 9 teams from the West and 7 from the East, somehow Hawkeye's Blackhawks ended up in the Eastern bracket, so I had to switch it up last minute but it doesn't really matter. If I did everything right, everyone ended up with one of their requested teams. If not, sorry...
A few important rules/guidelines that we'll need to follow:
-All games must be completed within one week. Again, we can make exceptions as long as there's communication from both participants, but sticking to a set schedule is crucial for keeping interest high enough to actually see this through.
-Each series is a best of 3, with the exception of the final round, which will be best 5 games. The home team will be determined simply by the top participant in the match-up in the bracket (for example, HawkeyeXP, gosha 25, Watti, etc, are to be the home team in round 1). The format for the first 3 rounds will be Home-Away-Home, and the final round is Home-Home-Away-Away-Home. If this doesn't make sense, post in the thread and I'll explain it.
-All games should be set up as unranked games with default settings. Whoever is the home team should set up the game using the following settings: Private game, Medium speed, 5:00 minute periods. These should be the default settings, and leave penalties, fighting, etc. to the On setting. Any questions, again, just post here in the thread.
-Please have one participant in each game post the results in this thread. In the menus of NHL 09, there's an option to receive email results from each of your games. Please navigate through and find it, and make sure that option is selected. Once you receive your results, please simply cut and paste them into this thread surrounded by [ CODE ] and [ /CODE ] (minus the spaces).
-Post screencaps, videos if you can, discuss the game, talk trash, etc. It keeps things fun.
-There is nothing we can do if a player chooses to be a "cheeser," but please try to keep the games fair and lactose-free. The object of the game is to put the puck in the net more than your opponent within sixty (extremely fast) minutes, but we're just doing this for fun... There remain a few cheap tactics in this game that allow you to score almost at will. Try to refrain from such exploits. If your opponent does it, let us all know, but at the end of the day the winner is the winner.
I'll probably add more here in a bit... but for now, let's get this started! :nhl:
I also don't refuse offers of beer at Kings games for all the work put into setting this up and updating it. ;)
