Great recap. If I get through to the finals, sounds like I may have to take a few runs at Garon if I hope to win this thing...

Damn it. I should have picked Colorado. There's gotta be a secret where if I'm Ryan Smyth and I hit A, B, X, Y at the same time... he can spear the hell out of Luongo.

Flyers Fly through Vancouver, 2-0, Even Series
Vancouver, BC (Daily News) - Despite several quality scoring opportunities, the Canucks failed to find an answer to two Flyer goals as Philadelphia evened the series at one game a piece. Martin Biron earned his first star selection without question and Glen Metropolit netted the game winner at the 10:03 mark of the third period.

Joffrey Lupul celebrates the Flyers victory over the Canucks. The Referee Tim
Donaghy looks sad in the background... probably had money riding on the 'Nucks.

Roberto Luongo surrendered his first goal of the playoffs in a losing effort, and Philadelphia took home the prize in what proved to be a much more physical game than the first, out-hitting Vancouver 44-36 in a penalty-filled melee. Vancouver's Kevin Bieksa and Sami Salo were both rattled enough to leave the game for a few shifts, though they would recover and will be available for game 3.

Phillie's Jeff Carter obliterates Kevin Bieksa in the 2nd period.

Pulled in the 3rd, net-meistro Roberto Luongo can only look on
as the Flyers score on an empty net, sealing the 2-0 effort.

    Great game, Hexisland!

Canucks Stun Flyers, Take Series in the Final Minutes
Philadelphia, PA (Aftonbladet: Sveriges nyhetsportal) translated by Daniel Sedin -
The Sedin Twins were un-****ing-believably awesome when it mattered most Sunday night in Philadelphia, literally stealing victory from the clutches of Martin Biron with a mere 13.6 seconds remaining. Up 2-0 in an exciting back-and-forth game, the Broad St. Bullies had all but popped the champagne corks when Kevin Bieksa scored on a seemingly harmless slapper from the point through the 5-hole at the 19:42 mark of the third period. Then, for the second time in his playoff career, Roberto Luongo headed to the bench in a move of blatant desperation where he witnessed a startling turn around just 5 seconds later, when the awesome Henrik Sedin drew the puck off of the face-off, took it up the boards and quickly cut in, wristing the biscuit high-glove side past a stunned Biron, silencing the 19,519 Philly Phaithful on hand.

The shot of Henrik Sedin's life.

The remaining seconds of the 3rd period played out without incident, and the 5 minute overtime looked to be nothing but Canucks shooting practice, though well-defended and earning Martin Biron a well-deserved 2nd star. The game was then to be decided in a controversial and rare playoff shootout.

Commissioner Watti Bettman, when asked about the decision not to have the playoffs go to unlimited 20-minute overtime periods, said only, "This is an exciting time in the NBA. We don't want to preempt any of their games to finish out this snooze-fest." The reporter blinked. "I also don't know how to set it up that way in the menus."

Mason Raymond and Jeff Carter both netted goals in the second round for their respective teams, however the game would be decided in the 4th round where Steve Bernier faced off with Joffrey Lupul. Bernier netted Vancouver's attempt, deking Biron out of his mind and lifting the puck over his pad with his backhand, and Luongo fairly easily pushed away Lupul's attempt at the same move, sending Vancouver on to the first ever LGK Cup Finals, where they'll meet the Edmonton Oilers in a best-of-five duel to the death.

Luongo brushes aside Lupul's last attempt to keep his team in the playoffs.

    Tim Donaghy, Watti Bettman. LOL!!!

Nice pictures and Associated Press-like recap. Now I'm scared. Vancouver going into the LGK Cup finals with momentum on their side, facing a well rested Edmonton team. It might lead to Garon being cooooooooold.

    Great games, Watti.
Good luck in the final, two both gentlemen.
1st game a shutout. 2nd game a shutout. Then the last game going to a shootout. Great series. I thought I was toast in the second game after being shutout in the first, but I got lucky. Not so lucky in the 3rd game. I suck at shootouts.
Keep me in mind for the next tourny.
    Thanks.

Great series, Hexisland. Obviously could have gone either way, and was within 15 or so seconds of going yours. I was sure I was a goner.

You'll be hearing about the next tournament shortly after we play this one out.

Great game, TooCool! Pretty damn even game, with Garon ever-so-slightly outperforming Luongo, a 5-minute major penalty, and another goal with only seconds to go to decide the game.

Due to horrendous weather conditions in Western Canada, the AP Press Report will be published tomorrow, complete with pictures.

I took two photos from Game 1.

Edler smashes Cogliano. But Cogliano claims it's a jump kick and he's trying to cut Edler in the face.

Penner fires a shot over (err... can't see the defender's number) a Canuck with a few seconds remaining in the 3rd period to win the game.
