40GB is 399
Neither are backwards compatible
The 60GB is no longer in production, so if you see it in stores, grab it! It's backwards compatible!
I am regretting being impatient and buying the non wi-fi having 20GB model.
Neither are backwards compatible? That is so infuriating.
How many GB's was the PS3 that you bought?
Makes me want to sell my 20gb model and buy an 80GB model.
In case anyone was wondering, the 80gb model of the PS3 does have some problems emulating ps1 and ps2 games. For some games, they simply flat out don't work, though this will hopefully get better with updates.

Backwards compatibility is a bonus and shouldn't make or break a system. Yeah, it's nice, but how many times are you really going to use your PS3 to play PSone or PS2 games? Nice, sure, but if it is missing in the new units, oh well. I'm just mad that PS3 wasn't more popular so I would have gotten one of a few promised PS2 hand-me-downs from friends. :(
