A lot of people do pay for streaming services through the PS3 (Netflix, MLB.TV, etc.) that they cannot utilize while the network is down.

Also, a lot will also depend on any credit card or identity theft that results from this. Not sure if Sony would end up liable, but I'm sure the lawsuits will be there. The concern for most users isn't about not being able to game online or purchase from the PS Store.

Netflix and MLB.TV can be accessed through other means and since they are not paid directly to Sony I don't believe the customer can go after Sony for that but any customers who paid for PSN Plus may have damages if Sony does not offer some sort of credit or month extension.

This is insane, there is no reason to take more than 2 weeks unless they actually had no protection for data at all and now have to create both the hardware and software protection that a 8 yr old would have insisted on in the first place.
