Alright, so I'm a tad late with my review but here it is:
If you want a great soccer simulation look no further, FIFA 08 sucks in comparison to the way this game plays and the AI here is superb. You will never score the same goal twice (unless you play on the easiest settings). Even the stupid stuff that happens in real soccer happens in the game, like defenders whiffing on the ball and keepers making stupid decisions, it's all there. However, if you want to play this game online, forget it, it's complete ****. They never managed to fix the bugs despite it being released in the US 5 months after it's european release which is really frustrating. If you also feel the need to have all the Major EPL licenses you're not going to get them here. I believe PES only has like 5 EPL teams, and the rest are named differntly with the correct lineup. For example Liverpool is Merseyside Red and Everton is Merseyside Blue, etc...
Anyways, this is a fun game to play if you want great soccer simululation, but a huge letdown if you're looking for the entire package.
I think 05 or 06 was the last year I played it. You could download updates to fix the team names and kits. I don't know why they'd not allow you to do that anymore. Most people that play games like this and FM are really anal about updating the graphics.
Sounds interesting, might be worthy of a rental.
Sweet Mr. I thanks for the tips, karma inbound SIR!
Let me know when you get a chance. I've been a huge fan of the Pro Evolution/Winning Eleven series for awhile. My favorite soccer game of all time was Pro Evolution 5/Winning Eleven 9.
I seriously played the **** out of that game. I have to make everything as realistic as possible so I'll sit there for a few hours and change all the team names to the correct ones. Just hoping there is that option this year!
You CAN change team names, logos, jerseys, etc. Although it is not as in depth as WE9 which we both agree as one of the greatest soccer sims of all time...
In all honesty though ASU, unless you're really jonesing to play a soccer game i'd wait for PES2009 to come out or just rent PES2008. PES2008 just seems incomplete and and I do have some regrets buying it because I rarely have time to play and when I do I don't want to be bitching about how the game could have been better. Still fun, but not perfect by any means.
