I never knew about the R1 button too, I just used, like Max...the L2 and Right stick to get the AI to shoot the puck.

R1 will not call for a one timer. if you push R1 instead of the right stick, it will make a wrist shot and it takes more time to release it. it is perfect for when the AI has the puck already and you want him to get a shot on. (especially if you are in front of the net screening or are in position for a rebound).
FYI, holding R1 also calls for a cpu slapshot. How you guys didn't know this before is beyond me lol.
Yup R1 is like "old school" controls for the cpu....tap it for a wrist shot, or hold it down for a slapshot. It's pretty intuitive.
slapshot but not one timer, right?
Correct. Hold down R1 for a pure CPU slaphot.
Basically the CPU will "windup" his shot for however long you hold R1. From wrist shot...to snap shot...all the way up to slap shot.
This is also very true. Often times on an odd man rush with the cpu, instead of calling for a pass, I will call for a cpu shot so that I can crash for a rebound. It creates a better scoring chance than calling for the puck which inevitably gets intercepted by the cpu Dman.

Once again, I apologize to Paul. Sorry man, I know we've got into it a bit lately, but I actually think you are one of the coolest dudes on the team.
I think the reason why I get mad is because it seems like the older members are always right and us younger members can't win. But I'm not stupid. I just think I am misunderstood at times. Now that I know about the R1 thing, this will help sooooooo much when we only have 2 or 3 players, whether I'm forward or defense. Thanks guys!
Also, it usually helps if the dmen are the ones pressing R1 when there is a scrum in front involving the cpu players. Sometimes the forward wants the auto shot by the cpu but takes a retarded tripping penalty when pressing R1. When I play D, I'm always mashing the R1 button on rebounds because usually no one is near me and I won't get a tripping penalty.
Now here's a question, if I hold R1 as a D-Man after I blast a shot from the point, will the cpu try and tip it?
