Spent some time setting it up last night - uhhhh . . . how I hate proprietary crap sometimes. My goal was to replace the PS3 in the living room, and move the old one to the bedroom. After doing what should be a simple "Back Up" and "Restore" process. I got concerned about the "Some data cannot be moved due to copywright, etc. etc. blah blah." Well, as it turns out, the first time I did the process, it copied only my data files (music, videos, photos). No game saves, nothing. I tried it again, and this time it moved SOME game saves and not others. Apparently some game saves won't move in this process, they have to be done indivudually. Others can't be moved at ALL. From what I've read, that includes all of my Rock Band data, which is NOT going to make the wife happy. So as it stands now, the PS3 slim is upstairs and I will slowly try to migrate the system manually until I can safely make the switch without rocking the boat too much.
What a pain in the ass. It is a much better package than the 60GB, which looks (and sounds) like a monster. I watched a little bit of "21" (bitstreams Dolby THD now!) and the thing never made a noise. Very quiet in comparison.
The Nintendo Wii will remain at $250 with gamers continuing their policy of ignoring it while their grandmothers try to play Wii Fit without damaging their new hip (Yes, come to me Wii Fanboys and suckle at my hate-teat). This had me LMAO!
I agree. While off of work due to injury, I was looking to pick up a used PS3 or XBox with a few games (had to break the boredom of daytime TV.) I finally wound up with an XBox at a reasonable price. ($200 for a 60 GB unit, 2 wireless controllers, wifi adapter, 2 headsets and about 6 decent games). But with PS3's Blu-Ray ability and free online gaming, I'd say they've got an edge over the XBox. But I am looking forward to the development of Project Natal!
Old PS3 was too loud for my bedroom to watch movies on. I am sticking with DVD for now and moved the PS3 back to the living room.
I have used Netflix on my 360 more than Bluray on my PS3. Although both are cool and compliment each other.
Things better on 360.
1. Controller
2. XBox Live
3. User interface.
4. Netflix.
5. Exclusive Games (I just like them better)
Things better on PS3.
1. Bluray
2. Wifi out of the box.
3. Bigger Harddrive for the money.
I might need one of these. I want to play the Rock Star game.
The 360 Elite has a 120gb HD for the same price, go.
There is a buy 1, get 1 50% off for PS3 games at Besy Buy next weeks. This includes preorders as well. Stock up, folks.
You like the PS3 controller better? And the exclusive games? And the user interface?
I'll give you "free online"
Mass Effect, Fable 2, Lost Odyssey, Halo 3, Viva Pinata, Forza 2 are better than the exclusive PS3 games (Metal Gear Solid 4, Uncharted, Little Big Planet, Gran Turismo 5-Prologue) I played.
The only one I finished, and what a convoluted mess of a story that was on PS3, was MGS4.
I am buying Uncharted 2 because of the hype and I want something to play on my PS3 this fall.
