Default Which system is the best to buy?

    Hi everyone,

I am looking to buy a videogame system to play hockey games on and maybe a few other games as well. I have been out of the videogame system loop for quite some time. The last system I bought was Super Nintendo about 12 years ago. I know systems are much more advanced now, and much more expensive as well.

I want something that I can play NHL09 (and beyond) on and is not too expensive.

What are the pros and cons to the systems that are available today?
What I'm looking for is the following:

realism of game play, graphics, cost, other games series (I like old school games)

What are some of the things you like about the systems you own, and what are the things you dislike about the systems?

I will be buying one in the near future, so any help you folks could give would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

    D

I've had 2 360's and while I liked them, I didn't like them dying me.
    I bought a PS3 and couldn't be happier.

Ultimately the choice is yours, but that was my experience with the two.

The PS3 is worth it just to play Metal Gear Solid 4. MGS4 = best game EVER. Other good PS3 platformers are Little Big Planet, Resistance, Uncharted, and God of War.

Plus, the PlayStation Network comes free of charge.

Xbox= Little cheaper, better online experience ($ though), better library (see below) , failure rate of older consoles isn't low.

PS3= Blueray and wifi built in, free online, potential for better graphics, growing library but not up to Xbox's standards (so the nerds say).

Both will play NHL 09. I am pretty happy with my 360, but would certainly take a PS3 as well.

It's not VHS vs. BetaMax. There's no wrong answer. You'll like either one.

i have a 360 and a ps3 so i like to think that i'm unbiased (but i'm probably not). i really like my ps3. my first 360 died on me. the one i have now is pretty good and i haven't had any problems with. the ps3 is just a better value in my opinion (although 360 prices have fallen a lot). with a ps3 you get game machine AND a blu-ray player. i don't know if you have a hi-definition tv, but i'd assume that if you don't you'd eventually get one. blu ray is amazing! as far as games go, most of the games i play tend to be multiplatform, so i could live with either system. oh and if you want to play nhl 09, do not buy a wii. all it has now is nhl 2k9 which SUCKS!

I have had my 360 for two years and it hasnt died yet... The new ones dont have problems like the first two generations did. Buy 360, its better it. And you dont have you use that gay uber light controller the PS3 has.
