i'm not psycho about gaming like some of you, but i DO enjoy a good one from time to time.
my 18-year old cousin works at Game Stop, and when i queried him, without hesitation he said "Skyrim"
now what say you?

What are your preferences? Skyrim is a time consuming game. Just go to gamestop and demand he take your money for Red Dead Redemption instead.
If you're looking for Role Playing Games, go with Mass Effect 1 and 2. They're about 20 bucks each. Mass Effect 3 is coming out on March 6, and it's going to be huge. Another RPG I really enjoy is Final Fantasy XIII. It got a lot of flack for being linear, but it's still a really terrific game. I'm re-playing that one right now because Final Fantasy XIII-2 is coming out on January 31.
I can't really recommend Skyrim since it doesn't interest me at all despite the amazing reviews.
Some other things I can probably recommend is Grand Theft Auto IV and Red Dead Redemption. Both those games tell a really good story too.
Left for Dead 2. Probably like $20 now. AMAZING game.
Skyrim is a cool game.
he immediately gathered my criteria across board from what i've heard about Skyrim since. i bought a 360 a while back, and it was my first system in a long time. this time round i was looking for bang for buck because it was going to be a recreational thing. i was never good at first person types but had interest in them because having to learn how to play - the challenge is what i like. so i wanted games that'd last me some time.
for instance, i got it when Call of Duty 4 came out and have since skipped on the next few, so i may be looking to maybe picking up the next of THAT edition... you get it?
i know the name Red Dead Redemption, so clearly it seems to have been a game to be reckoned with.
i DO like RPG's - i played D&D in my pre-gescom days, and i haven't played a Final Fantasy since, oh whatever the last edition for the Playstation 2 was.
i'll check out Mass Effect. i could never really get into Grand Theft auto beyond watching someone play it so we could laugh.
noted.
You have to go with Skyrim. If you're into RPGs, it'll be one of the best games you've played to date.
It's an amazing, immersive game and if you're a gamer with patience you're sure to love it!
For more of a quick fix, I second Red Dead Redemption or GTA IV (which is surprisingly cheap nowadays, think I saw it at Best Buy for $20). But, if you don't like GTA then you probably won't like Red Dead Redemption either (same engine and definitely the same idea). But I think if you really give either one a shot it might grow on you!
Also strongly recommend Portal 2 if you like puzzle games. It's another excellent experience. :)
Portal 2 sounds interesting
Skyrim is worth picking up. I'm not even a fan of RPG's, but I'm glad I gave the game a chance.
Skyrim will take over your life. The official guide is is 650 pages, and there is endless stuff you can do.
