My Wii was collecting dust for a while too until I bought Resident Evil 4. That game is awesome for the wii. I'm still playing it now and I think it's definately a game worth owning a wii for. And Zelda and Metroid are great games. I'd hang onto it.
I've read that Wii RE4 has already passed 750K sold, and surpassed the GC sales numbers.
I've been playing Metroid 3 (and replaying now on a harder difficulty level) since it came out and it's fantastic. It has IMHO the best first-person adventure/shooting controls ever implemented when you switch it to "Advanced" style.
It's definitely not just for "Casual gamers". Twilight Princess and Metroid 3 are two of the best games on any console released in the past year. There is some novelty factor to the controllers at first, but actually I've found it just ends up being a better way to play many types of games.
The FPS games are improving with each release, I've gone through Medal of Honor and Call of Duty 3, and now Metroid 3 has really gotten the scheme right.
RE4 is incredible on the Wii, by far the best version of one of the great all-time games.
The Tiger Woods series are pretty cool if you're into golf.
The install base for Wii is increasing so quickly that many publishers (I work for one) are dedicating more and more resources to developing Wii games. The Wii has essentially caught the 360 in units owned, in much less time. Quality Wii games are on the horizon. Yeah, it's not the PS3 or 360 when it comes to graphics, but for
$250 it's a great investment and a lot of fun.
Man! Wife just got me one for our anniversary! Came with Wii Sports and Mario Party 8. Both are REALLY fun!
Any other suggestions?
I want one but the only games I really want are RE4 and Zelda. My 360 can take care of the rest. :)
unless you need the cash, i would keep it. seems like a fun console to play with your girl and friends.
the ps3 is rumored to be releasing a newer 40gb version before christmas that will be around 399. not too bad. and who knows what microsoft will do to compete with that.
if and when those drops happen, you can pick up a more powerful machine later. but for now you can have fun with the wii. i was too impatient to wait for the new ps3 to come out and didn't want to drive around so cal looking for a wii so i just picked up the 60gb ps3.
