WoW is well-polished and very enjoyable if you've never played it before. If you're the type of person that does not enjoy doing the same type of task over and over again in a game, WoW is not the game for you though.

I'd suggest checking out the free trial if you're interested, but frankly, be aware that if you are an "achiever" type when it comes to games, it will require a heavy timesink for you to accomplish anything substantial.

If you are just interested in the world of MMOs, there are a lot of other great ones out right now that I'm sure many posters here can recommend, if WoW isn't your thing. I will say, IMO, it certainly isn't the best MMO out there, nor the most innovative, but absolutely one of the most well-presented, most polished, and most newbie friendly games you can come across.

Thirded. It's a very fun game, but slowly consumes your soul. If you don't care about your job and outside life, you may not come out for days.

Yes, sadly, I used to call in sick for this game. LOL. Been clean for several years now though.

EQ = 10 pounds
DAoC = 20 pounds
CoH = 5 pounds (didn't play it for long)
WoW = 30 pounds

I'm done. Of course, the first two I played while recovering from an injury, but the addiction to the genre was strong. It's going to be a lot harder (when I finally decide to get off my ass and do something about it) to take this weight off than it was to put it on, that's for sure.

I have a very addictive personality and not a lot of free time so I think I'll pass on the free trial.

I think that is a good call, RR. I'd never put this game on my computer, the consequences are staggering lol.

better to play NHL 09 because I can walk away after a game is over.

Fortunately, I'm at the point that I can no longer play it, it just doesn't hold that appeal anymore. I kick up EVE, City of Heroes or even go back to DAOC if I need an MMO fix anymore. That said, my Sins of a Solar Empire habit is almost as bad.

hmmm I've barely scratched the surface of Sins...it doesn't have a single player campaign like homeworld, right?
