I have been playing for about 3.5 years. I am mostly in Naxx 25 gear. I haven't progressed further mostly because I can't find a decent guild that raids or the good raiding guilds are way above my gear level so they won't look at me. I also got tired of raiding. I will probably switch to Aion because most of my non-raiding guild members will be going there.
I recommend the addon Lightheaded for questing. It has user comments from WoWhead in the addon so you don't have to alt-tab to look up something for a quest. The user comments are usually enough to help you through the quest. Carbonite is also a good addon.

quest helper gives you everything, an arrow with distance on screen, and locations on the map & mini-map

Thanks to this thread, I started playing WoW over Christmas break. However, last week, when I was stuck at home for an entire week battling the flu, is when the addiction hit. I have a level 31 Night Elf Druid.
