    Stay away from buying used Xboxs or risk never being able to use the Live account.

    yeah don't try to fix your RRoD by yourself either. I got banned and my xbox hasn't been modded. My brother's is modded and no action taken against him. How's that for irony.

    The unit that you fixed yourself got banned? Or did a unit that has never been opened get banned?

    They were both opened. Mine was opened because I was unlucky enough to get the RRoD 2 months after my warranty expired and my system is banned.

    He opened his, modded it and now can play backup copies installed to his HDD and no ban.

    If you're the owner of a modified 360 do yourself a favor and don't connect to Live, especially if you own any arcade games that you bought and downloaded to the hard drive.
