There is a deal on the Xbox Live when you turn on your machine. I just paid for a year at 39.99 so I'm good for now.

Do the Xbox's really seize up as much as folks tell me? Are these temporary problems or usually more serious. I just bought one...they still haven't solved the overheating...even in the newer models? I am only a casual user...it will probably get more work as a bluray player than for games. What little tips and tricks(besides keeping it out in the open) should I know?

Any boxes with the HDMI port (including the new Slims) should not have overheating problems.

I bought the 250GB HALO:ODST bundle in January for an awesome price and I will not upgrade it to a Slim. I've had no issues with it except for a corrupted drive that I had to send to Texas for replacement.

With the large drive, I install everything to disk before playing it. Only bad coding causes games these days to be slower when you do this (and those Dev shops should be closed forever!).

I've been noticing the $39.99 offer and considering taking it. I bought mine and my nephews current memberships just before Xmas at Costco for around $35.

My subscription is up in January so I might take them on this 39.99 deal, but what happens to the extra months and such?? I mean if my subscription is up in January, I pay for a year now, I have 3 extra months right??

if i am correct they just tack the extra months on...so if you have 3 months left on your current subscription and buy 12 months now you will have 15 months at time of purchase

I have had my XBOX for over 2 years. My family is a heavy user. It has locked up maybe once or twice and it has never overheated.
