Get the 360. The gameplay seems to be smoother, online play is much more competitive, and in the very near future you will be able to stream Netflix movies to your Xbox if you have a Gold Live and Netflix account.
The ROD problem seems to be nonexistent on new consoles, and in the unfortunate event your 360 locks up the service MS provides is outstanding.
Love my PS3.
I chose the PS3 over an Xbox360 because, for ME, it was the much better package.
Don't get to play online that often so chose the free option - PS3
Most games are multiplatorm and I wanted MGS4 WAY more than any Xbox 360 exclusive. Really, the only game I wanted to play on the XBox360 was Gears of War. Just waited a bit and got it for the PC (Thought it was really fun and really really stupid at the same time) So, multiplatform games, PC + PS3 exclusives = win

No doubt, the Xbox360 has a lot to offer, but for my money it was really no contest. You probably won't be dissappointed either way.
And for those counting, my nephew is on his third Xbox360 and has had numerous disc scratching problems. But I also have a friend who is on his 2nd PS3 for disc read error.
