That depends on what you consider a job. If you mean those that have to sell labor for a wage, then yes.

And what will artificially driving up the market-price of labor do? Cause employers to search for further ways to automate (among other things).

Because socialism has been SO bloody successful in every iteration.

Oh, wait. I'm sorry. It's been just the opposite. Socialism has a record of failure so obvious and blatant that only the willfully ignorant or just plain dumb attempt to deny it.

Finland, Denmark, Netherlands, Canada, and a good amount of other countries would disagree. But hey, what would all those social democrats with better health care, longer life spans, less poverty, better working conditions, better education, less incarceration, know??

I'm not a socialist, a democrat or a republican. What I am is human. What I stand for is moral corrrectness.

Socialism and Republican (opposite sides of the fence, i know) have both been so battered that nobody even knows what either of them stand for anymore.

Be sure not to take any of that social security when you retire. We wouldn't want you to be a leech socialist.

The second CEO pay shifted more towards stock options rather than straight salaries and bonuses was the icing on the cake for the culling of the middle class. Long term growth by upper management is thrown out the window to appease the masses during quarterly earnings season.

I worked as a stock clerk at an Office Depot all throughout college so I feel for those that make crap wages, however, I still took the job seriously and was promoted less than a year in...it wasn't much, but the increase in pay certainly helped. I work for a staffing firm in Ontario now that focuses on mid to high level operations and Engineering positions, but we'll dabble in the light industrial stuff if it makes sense from a safety and financial perspective. You guys would not believe the **** I see/hear from many warehouses out here consistently...many operations managers couldn't care less if they have an undocumented workforce or not, and any temps they bring in they'll want to pay minimum wage and essentially give them work that is akin to slave labor.

I don't feel sorry for lazy bums that don't work hard and produce for their employers, but the utter lack of social responsibility is a damn shame from companies these days...it won't be changing anytime soon either.

Why not? He was forced to pay into it. He should be entitled to what was stolen from him.

I'd gladly take my current social security now as a lump sum and opt-out.

Personally I hate the term socialism. Because ultimately socialism is more authoritarian and someone is always losing some type of liberty to appease another groups wants or demands that have no impact on them as an individual. Capitalism works but only when the cronyism part is kept in check. Unfortunately, our government has become dependent on cronyism and the people are more then happy to vote for people who will steal liberty from one party as long as it benefits them in some way.

The quote by Winston Churchill, and others made here about being pro capitalism, have this nasty habit of looking at, and speaking about any alternative, from a capitalists sense. There this tendency to talk about too many regulations, over-taxation, excessive laws, nanny states...essentially, perpetuating the alternative using the same power system set up by oligarchs. After all, it's what capitalism depends on to protect it's property structure. I guess I can see why it's hard to imagine any other system of authority and power when that's all you believe in. Personally, I believe in anarchy. More specifically, anarcho-syndicalism. It totally means that people can govern themselves, and workers can control enterprise. I guess it's a pretty radical concept for those that can't imagine people taking care of themselves and those around them.
