Ok, I'm not really going to pilot the plane, but it's more like a "hey learn about aircraft navigation and we take you up in the air for an hour" type of deal, but it should be fun nonetheless. I've played enough flight sims to get nerded out a little bit about this. I'm sure it'll be a hell of a lot more exciting than my upcoming 16 hour flights to the Philippines.
My wife wants me to take flying lesson, as do I, but I just do not want to go through the process and then at then end have a license that I would not be using.
That is why I do not want to get one, my wife doesn't understand that. I would love to fly, but I heard that owning an airplane actually costs money as does flying one.
Flying isn't inexpensive. But like any other form of recreation (like boating or RVing), it's cost can be acceptable. Check into the light-sport aircraft and pilot certification category. They're smaller planes and less expensive to operate. The certification is less expensive to obtaion, too...but there are more restrictions to the types of operations you can conduct.
Or...look at experimental ultralights. LOADS of fun.
Anything worth shooting is worth shooting twice. Bullets are cheap. Life is priceless.
yeah, they look like loads of fun Mom crashes ultralight plane on first solo flight - YouTube

Just got back from my intro lesson. TONS OF FUN! I doubt I'll have the money to pursue a license at all, but I had a blast today. I learned to taxi a bit, got to fly around, did some steep banks, oh man. Pretty much the only thing I didn't do was takeoff and land. So much fun.
